Harman Kardon Flagship 550 Watt 5.1 AVR, THX Ultra AVR 8000Harman Kardon Flagship 550 Watt 5.1 AVR, THX Ultra, THX Surround EX, 110 (Conservatively rated HK) Watts per channel in surround sound mode, ear-endangering, neighbour infuriating 125 Watts per channel in stereo mode.
The AVR 8000, H/K's flagship receiver, boasts enough power and processing to deliver a supercharged home theater experience! It's not only armed with 110 full-bandwidth-rated watts x 5 channels of amplification, but also meets the extremely strict performance standards necessary to garner THX® Ultra certification. Exclusive THX Ultra enhancements like Timbre Matching™, ReEqualization™, and Decorrelation™ all contribute to an ultra-faithful reproduction of the cinematic experience in your living room.
This receiver's also got the processing flexibility to handle virtually any surround format you can throw its way, including THX Surround EX™, DTS-ES™ Discrete 6.1, DTS-ES Matrix 6.1, Dolby® Digital, and Dolby Pro Logic II™. Topping it all off are H/K's exclusive Logic 7® modes, which let you transform older surround sources and stereo music into exciting 5.1 or 7.1 channel sound. And for fans of Internet audio, the AVR 8000 also offers MP3 decoding, for use with PC sound cards that can output an MP3 bitstream through an optical or coaxial digital connection.
You also get convenient features galore. Dual-room/dual-source capability lets you and a housemate enjoy different sources simultaneously.
There's also plenty of connectivity for all your audio sources, including no less than 8 digital inputs (4 Optical, 4 x Coaxial) The front panel alone has optical and coaxial digital inputs and outputs.
A crucial factor in the AVR 8000's spectacular performance is the care with which H/K has designed its "guts." Outputs and inputs are Gold-plated for optimal conductivity. Two advanced Crystal processors — each sporting dual 24-bit DSP engines — handle surround decoding with extreme precision. A massive toroidal power transformer feeds separate power supplies for the driver and output stages, assuring maximum output power at all times, even during the most demanding multichannel peaks that THX Surround EX can dish out. Three pairs of discrete output devices for each channel further guarantee sonic accuracy. We're talking phenomenally high-end sound!

High Quality Cambridge Audio 600 Watt 6.1 AVR Azur 540R V2Fantastic sound, great looks, and Cambridge Audio Build Quality in a sleek, compact form factor. At this price point, It's hard to beat the performance of this Azur 540R v2 for your music / home theater system.
From Cambridge:
"The 540R V2.0 is designed to maximise multi-channel performance without compromising on stereo reproduction. As such, the six discrete amplifiers are kept as separate as possible from the processing
and input stages. An oversized power supply ensures that the 540R V2.0 can maintain a high power output into even difficult speaker loads to ensure a powerful and effortless sound.
For this V2.0 model we have fitted an improved volume control IC, larger PSU capacitors and made various improvements to the circuitry further elevating the sound quality of the unit. The Video switching has also
been completely re-designed to give higher bandwidth compatible with HDTV and the unit now features full On Screen Display.
A full range of digital and analog inputs are fitted to the 540R V2.0. Digital inputs allow for the connection of suitably equipped DVD players, satellite boxes and games consoles for decoding into stereo or digital
surround formats. Conventional analog stereo inputs allow the connection of CD players and the like to ensure the best possible stereo reproduction. The 540R V2.0 is also capable of decoding analog stereo
sources in Dolby Pro Logic® II and DTS Neo:6, for a convincing and effective surround experience from an analog source.
All this proprietary engineering is housed within our low resonance, acoustically damped chassis. An Azur Navigator remote control is also provided, giving full remote control of your AV receiver in an attractive
and easy to use handset."

Full Digital Path! Harman Kardon 350 Watt 7.1 AVR DPR-1001Leave it to Harman Kardon to develop a groundbreaking full digital path receiver.
The DPR 1001 takes you boldly forward into the future of A/V entertainment — audio signals from DVDs and CDs remain in the digital domain from disc to digital amplifier! With no A/D and D/A conversion in the interim, extremely rigorous standards of signal purity are maintained, for an ultra-faithful re-creation of the cinematic or musical experience in your living room.
Best of all, you don't sacrifice an iota of home theater versatility or convenience in exchange for this innovative design. You get a full arsenal of surround decoding, including Dolby® Digital EX, DTS-ES® and Pro Logic™ II. H/K's Logic 7 Cinema and Music modes let you transform any stereo or Dolby Surround source into convincing 7.1-channel sound. Dual-room/dual-source capability lets you enjoy 5.1 surround sound in your main listening room, while simultaneously powering a pair of speakers in another room, so a housemate can enjoy a different stereo audio source! A separate remote is included for second-room use.
This receiver's all-digital amplifier section drives your home theater with 50 full-bandwidth-rated watts x 7 channels of ultra-clean power. While 50 watts per channel might pale on paper next to the power ratings of conventional receivers, once you hear the DPR 1001 in action, you'll be blown away by the purity and precision its all-digital design makes possible.
For precise control over your sound you get exclusive H/K technologies like the Triple X-Over system. This lets you set individual crossover points for each of three sets of speakers: front L/R, center channel, and surrounds (side L/R and back L/R). You can even assign unique Triple X-Over settings to each input source. The DPR 1001's multichannel digital bass manager, another H/K first, digitizes the direct analog input from an SACD or DVD-Audio player. This lets you apply Triple X-Over settings to these high-resolution signals, protecting your smaller speakers from potentially damaging low frequencies, and redirecting these room-shaking lows to your subwoofer. Two great features for anyone who's surround speaker system doesn't consist of 5 to 7 identical speakers!
The DPR 1001 features MP3 decoding for use with H/K's DAL 150 or other components that can send an MP3 bitstream through an optical or coaxial digital connection. Its back panel offers plenty of inputs and outputs for connecting all your sources, including HDTV-compatible component video switching for 2 sources. For easy connectivity with camcorders and portable audio devices, the front panel offers a switchable A/V input/output (with S-video), a switchable coaxial digital input/output, and an optical input.
The learning/multibrand EzSet™ remote features a built-in SPL sensor that lets it automatically balance the levels of your home theater speakers for optimum sound at your favorite seat. It also offers programmable macros and an LCD for handy control of your entire A/V system. And check out the DPR 1001's unique, handsomely sleek black and silver exterior!

Harman Kardon 240 Watt 6.1 AVR w/ Remote AVR 135Harman Kardon's attractive AVR 135 6.1 audio/video surround receiver decodes an array of 5.1- and 6.1-channel surround formats, bringing you great sound from many sources.
The AVR 135 features a discrete-output amplifier that pumps 6 channels of high-current (+/-25 amps), ultrawide-bandwidth power: (conservatively rated) 6 x 40 watts into 8 ohms, 20 to 20,000 Hz with less than 0.07 percent THD. The receiver uses state-of-the-art 192 kHz/24-bit audio digital-to-analog converters and a high-power Cirrus 32-bit DSP processor for clear, dynamic presentations from music and movies.
Surround sound features include traditional Dolby Pro Logic, Dolby Digital 5.1, and DTS surround, including 6.1 DTS-ES Discrete, DTS-ES Matrix, and DTS Neo:6 (Cinema 6.1/5.1 and Music 6.1/5.1). You also get Harman's proprietary Logic 7 audio for enhanced multichannel reproduction from both matrix-encoded and 2-channel recordings.
As part of its broad video hookup options, the receiver offers wide-bandwidth, HDTV-compatible component-video inputs and an array of digital and analog audio connections, including three coaxial and two optical digital audio inputs and 1 of each type of digital output. It sports both analog and digital front-panel inputs, and 6-channel direct audio inputs to accommodate a DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, SACD, or universal player.
The AVR 135's cutting-edge technologies also include triple-crossover bass management and automatic digital input polling. Digital input polling is a Harman Kardon feature that detects whether the selected audio source is digital or analog in nature and automatically configures the receiver to provide the required audio output. This means you won't have to manually switch the receiver's input from digital to analog when changing from, say, an SACD-capable DVD player's coaxial digital output (for Dolby/DTS) and its multichannel analog outputs (to appreciate the SACD audio). You can switch the feature off when desired. (Awesome Feature!)
Triple-crossover bass-management system lets you choose from multiple crossover frequencies for the front L/R, center, surround L/R, and surround back L/R speakers. Most receivers and DVD players have far more limited crossover filtering or none at all. Moreover, you can set different speaker-size configurations for different AVR 135 input sources according to your needs.
You get a high-quality FM/AM tuner with 30 station presets and a Listener Preference System that lets you specify a surround mode according to the program source. You can also set speaker-channel levels for each program source and DSP format (for example, the sub-woofer level can be set differently for multichannel movie viewing and 2-channel CD music listening).

Sony 100 WPC AVR **3.1 Only, please see Description** STR-DE585Sony 100 WPC AVR **3.1 Only, please see Description**
This 20 year old Sony has limited functionality, and is being sold "as-is" for someone looking for an inexpensive budget amplifier.
Front Left and Right, Center Channel and subwoofer outputs are all working correctly.
If you're looking for an inexpensive 3.1 surround amplifier or stereo only amplifier with subwoofer, then it might be a good option for you.
Some of the front mounted buttons are temperamental, and the tuner (Radio) has a background hum.
Unfortunately this model is not valuable enough to warrant the time / parts required to repair it, but we try hard to keep as many electronic components out of the landfill as possible.
So, asking just $25 for this Sony that has seen better days, but hopefully will find a new home and be able to provide years more of good use, albeit in a more limited capacity.
Will be auditioned for you at time of purchase.
