Impressive, Hand Crafted Compact Totem Towers in Cherry ArroImpressive, Hand Crafted Compact Totem Towers in Beautiful Cherry Finish
From Totem:
"Straight to the heart
The Totem Arro shoots straight to the heart. The Arro’s strong frequency extension and broad-spectrum harmonics blend in a phase-perfect conjunction that transmits the true essence of music. With its ultra-slim design, the alluring and versatile Arro speaker is an aesthetic room-pleaser that allows endless placement possibilities.
Omni-directional in character, the Arro defies the laws of physics with extreme bass extension and holographic sound imaging. If you like authentic-sounding performances that reach beyond the realm of space and time, experience the streamlined beauty of the Totem Arro.
Customized Drivers
Every single driver is completely unique to Totem and proprietary in design, engineered by Totem and then manufactured to the strictest standards to meet our parameters by the finest raw driver suppliers in the world. In some cases, where the technology is beyond the capabilities of suppliers or is wished to be kept secret, Totem can and will build our own drivers. Every driver exhibits phase linearity, speed, emotion, off axis natural presentation, and spatial articulation.
Handmade Crossovers
Totem crossovers don’t require many parts because of the synergy between our customized drivers, but the components are the world’s best. Our crossovers aren’t built on PCB’s because the laminated conductive tracks are weak and inconsistent. Instead they are secured to a thin piece of fiberboard or insulated polymers and components are mechanically crimped together because it simply sounds better. When we must solder, we choose WBT Silver Solder, the purest in the industry.
Artisanal Cabinet Construction
Meticulously handcrafted for peak performance that lasts decades. Lock-Miter assembly is an intricate woodworking procedure where edges physically interlock together. The resulting cabinet is up to 5 times stronger than conventional V Groove cabinets. Internal and external veneering resists warping, structurally fortifies, and ensures consistent peak performance. Industry unique Borosilicate damping manages dissipation, keeps the cabinet musically alive, and never deteriorates. Popular materials like poly fillers eventually decay, dramatically affecting the performance. Variable Density Fiberboard is denser at the extremities than the interior to reduce repetitive nodes and resonances.
Connectors
Two sets of high conductivity gold plated connectors efficiently capture the incoming signal for superior speaker performance and allow traditional, bi-wire, or even bi-amplification options. They accommodate a variety of connection options such as bare wire, banana plugs, and spades."
Design Highlights:
Ultra slim design
Aesthetic compactness

Great bass extension with speed, alacrity and phase correctness

Borosilicate damping
Biwireable

Impressive Current Model Goldenear Floorstanders Triton 7 (Reduced)Impressive Current Model Goldenear Floorstanders
Want a reference-quality floor-standing speaker that sounds as good or better than much pricier options? The Triton Seven delivers what GoldenEar calls "boxless three-dimensional imaging" with the smooth, non-fatiguing character of its HVFR™ (High-Velocity Folded Ribbon) tweeter. By squeezing air — rather than pushing it like a conventional tweeter — the HVFR design delivers articulate nuance with very low distortion. This high-end tweeter is placed between two 5-1/4" woofers, and there are two 8" bass radiators, one on each side of this floor-stander's non-resonant curved cabinet.
The Triton Seven's driver arrangement — with its world-class tweeter positioned between the woofers — helps keep the transition between drivers smooth and seamless. The speaker's front baffle is angled upward, to focus the sound toward ear level.
The Triton Seven presents sparkling highs, robust bass without bloat, and ultra-low distortion, all with breathtakingly wide dispersion, for a soundstage that reaches out into the room as well as behind the speakers.
Designed with a simple, functional ergonomic visual aesthetic, this tower seems to lose itself in the mix it projects. And it will all but disappear in the darkness of a home theater setting.
Product highlights:
HVFR™ (High-Velocity Folded Ribbon) tweeter

Gorgeous Reference Paradigm Towers in Dark Cherry Studio 60 v3Gorgeous Reference Collection Paradigm Towers in Dark Cherry
**Cabinets tops on this pair have been freshly polished to a nice shine, removing all traces of the original rubber finish which often gets sticky over time.** Cabinets, Drivers and Grills are all in very good cosmetic condition, and these speakers sound fantastic.
Glowingly reviewed by Stereophile magazine, and many owners past and present alike, the Studio 60 v.3 is a gracefully proportioned but simple 2½-way tower with two 7" mid/bass drivers and a 1" tweeter.
They boast an extraordinarily high level of fit'n'finish. Just two examples: First, the cabinet's rubbery top grades smoothly into the side panels to provide a non-resonant surface, molding its contours to suit the tweeter's radiation; its shape and substance resist being marred by the cocktail glasses of inconsiderate guests. Second, the two pairs of multiway binding posts are clearly color-coded and can be operated with finger force alone.
While the v.2 was an excellent speaker in its own right, the v.3 is significantly larger, and more complex, than its predecessor. A rap with a knuckle produced a sound of slightly higher pitch and lower amplitude than it did from the v.2, suggesting that the v.3 is both more rigid and less resonant. This may be due to the v.3's more complex cabinet construction and driver mounting, as well as to the cabinet's curved rubbery top, which surrounds the slightly protruding cowl enclosing the aluminum-dome, ferrofluid-cooled tweeter.
Other external differences from the v.2 are the v.3's front and back ports and the very substantial, stationary brass phase plug on its upper mid/bass driver. That driver has a mica-polymer cone and a 1.5" voice-coil; the v.3's second-order crossover hands off the signal to the tweeter at 2kHz. The lower bass driver, which is rolled off above 500Hz, is similar but has a mineral-filled polypropylene cone. All three drivers have diecast chassis and are resiliently mounted to the cabinet to minimize transmission of vibration via any medium but air. (Paradigm calls this system IMS/Shock-Mounting.)
The aforementioned Stereophile review provided the following synopsis: "Over the years, I've reviewed a number of speakers in the $1000-$2000/pair range because this is where, it seems to me, the going gets tough. Speakers costing less than $1000/pair usually include serious compromises, and those costing more than $2000/pair, no matter how good they are, can be enjoyed only by the relative few who can afford them. In this range, several other speakers have outstanding and desirable traits, but no speaker costing anywhere near $1600/pair has a better integration of all performance parameters than Paradigm's Reference Studio 60 v.3."
Specifications:

Suitable Amplifier Power Range: 15 - 200 watts (compatible with 8 Ohms)
In Room Sensitivity: 91 dB, Frequency Response On-Axis: ±2dB from 46 Hz - 22 kHz

Sleek Definitive Technology 7-Driver Floor-Standers Mythos FourPair of Sleek 7-Driver (3-Way) Floor-Standing Speakers from Definitive Technology
Radique's Take: We absolutely loved this description from Stereophile Magazine:
"The Mythos Four exudes class and style as it presses upward from its elegant glass base. It soars toward the ceiling like a refined cathedral spire built to appease the gods of great sound and stylish décor." Wow!
Get high-end sound from these sleek floor-standing speakers.
You don't have to sacrifice your room's décor to get rich, detailed home theatre sound. The Definitive Technology Mythos Four has a slim, curved cabinet that combines the elegance of hand-polished aluminum with state-of-the-art Definitive driver technology. You'll really like the look of Mythos — its sleek design is at home in rooms where boxy conventional speakers wouldn't stand a chance. And you'll love the way its big, full-range sound enhances your favourite movies, TV shows, and video games.
High-tech drivers for exceptionally detailed sound
The driver array near the top of the cabinet has two 4-1/2" midranges flanking a 1" dome tweeter, with all three sharing a sealed compartment that isolates them from the bass drivers, for accurate sound with pinpoint imaging. The pure aluminum dome tweeter produces extended highs that reveal nuance and subtle detail without a trace of edginess. Below this array are two 4-1/2" woofers pressure-coupled to two bass radiators for low-frequency response that's smooth and controlled.
Gorgeous aircraft-grade aluminum cabinet
The slender Mythos Four cabinet is made of black hand-polished aluminum, and rests on a tempered glass base to maintain rigidity and stability. Every aspect of the enclosure has been engineered for optimum sound quality. For example, the non-resonant PolyStone front baffle holds all seven drivers securely in place while fighting distortion-causing vibrations. Definitive's goal is simple: you should be hearing the drivers, not the enclosure.

Very impressive 3-Way Floorstanding Speakers from NHT VT-1.2Very impressive 3-Way Floorstanding Speakers from NHT boasting extreme performance in a compact footprint.
Radique's Take: We're huge fans of NHT. We've recommended their slim form factor 3-Way towers to numerous customers looking for great sounding, unobtrusive floorstanders, and some of our own team members use them in their primary home systems.
From NHT:
"NHT speakers are designed to deliver refined, musical sound from attractive and affordable packages. Our efforts are guided by the study of human hearing and are optimized for real-world use. Every NHT loudspeaker undergoes rigorous testing and quality control at the factory to ensure you years of listening pleasure.
Designed as a smaller and more affordable counterpart to NHT's revolutionary VT-2 Audio / Video Reference Speaker, theVT-1.2 incorporates many of its larger sibling's technologies, including an easily accessible Audio / Video switch on the front panel. The VT-1.2's are designed to provide high-performance sound when used as main L-R speakers in five-channel home theater systems.
Inside the VT-1.2 are two separate chambers. The midrange and high frequency drivers are housed in a sealed sub-enclosure and located on a narrow front baffle. The 8-inch long-throw subwoofer is housed in a separate vented enclosure and is mounted on the side of the cabinet for consistent bass loading.
The Audio / Video Switch on the front baffle of the VT-1.2 makes it an ideal speaker for combined audio / video systems. The "Audio" mode (A) provides impressive imaging for music playback, while the "Video" mode (V) broadens the soundfield horizontally for a diffuse, ambi-ent presentation. This "smearing" of the sound in the "Video" mode greatly minimizes the occurrence of cognitive dissonance, a psychoacoustical phenomenon which occurs when a nonscreen visual image is accompanied by a sound that is placed offscreen in a precise location. NHT's Audio / Video switch is a means for optimizing the speaker during home theater use to minimize cognitive dissonance, which confuses sensory perception and can compromise the realism of the experience."

- Driver Complement: 8” long-throw subwoofer, two 4.5” midranges, 1” fluid-cooled soft dome tweeter, video shielded (upper portion only)

Attractive, Modern PSB Slim Towers Image 5TThe PSB Image 5T Floor-Standing Speakers are tall 3-Driver towers with dual front ports and a modern appearance.
The tweeter is a 1” aluminum dome with ferrofluid, a 6.5” mid-range/bass driver and the same for a bass unit, each with rubber surrounds. Each of the two 6.5” drivers has a 2”vented port. Crossovers are a Linkwitz-Riley 4th order at 500 Hz between the two 6.5” drivers, and a 3rd order Butterworth at 2.5 kHz leading up to the tweeter.
The two and a half way design is intended to produce coherent sound from proximate drivers. In other words, the 1” tweeter is next to the 6.5” driver that picks up where the tweeter leaves off, thus that range of sound comes from about the same area in the front baffle. The lower 6.5” driver plays only below 500 Hz and thus integrates with the middle driver.
Sensitivity is quite high, rated at 92 dB in a typical room and 90 db in an anechoic chamber.
The top of the front baffle is a curved plastic molding that houses the drivers. The grille is set on a rigid plastic frame that is curved to fit the baffle. Great sounding quality 4-Driver Towers from Infinity Beta 40The Betas are our favourite mid-range series from Infinity.
We've been using a pair of trusty Beta 50's in our primary listening area for the past several years, and we'd used Beta 40's previously for the same application. We had them set up in a bi-wired configuration, and they sound extremely impressive for this price point.
Music and movie lovers will find a lot to like in Infinity's Beta 40. This slender tower speaker uses Infinity's most advanced drivers to produce a wide soundstage and precise imaging. Its solid MDF cabinet houses a 1" tweeter, a 5" midrange, and dual 6-1/2" woofers. You'll enjoy detailed, accurate highs and mids plus distinct, musical bass.
This speaker owes its open, natural sound to Infinity's patented Ceramic Metal Matrix Diaphragm driver material — the same material Infinity uses in their top-of-the-line models. CMMD™ combines layers of ceramic with a stiff metal core for crystal-clear sonic performance. It's strong and durable, yet incredibly lightweight and responsive.
Features: video-shielded, bass-reflex (ported) enclosure, two sets of quality 5-way binding posts for bi-wiring, innovative metal grills (great for preventing small hands from denting the domes or cones)
Power Handling of 200 Watts at 8 Ohms impedance, Frequency response 45-20,000 Hz (±3dB), Sensitivity of 91 dB
Drivers: 3-way design featuring: 1" CMMD tweeter, 5" CMMD midrange driver, dual 6-1/2" CMMD woofers

Great Sounding KEF Towers with UNI-Q, Made in England Q30Great Sounding Compact KEF Towers with UNI-Q drivers, made in England
A medium-sized Q series speaker system equipped with UNI-Q driver.
The unit is equipped with a UNI-Q driver consisting of a 16 cm polypropylene cone type woofer and a 1.9 cm soft dome type tweeter.
In the UNI-Q driver, two units, a cone-type driver and a soft-dome tweeter, are not only made into a coaxial structure, but also placed at exactly the same point with respect to the position of the diaphragm in the depth direction so that the phases between the units are aligned.
In addition, neodymium iron boron, which has 10 times the energy of ferrite, is adopted for the magnetic circuit of the tweeter section, which realizes the miniaturization of the tweeter unit.
This unit is provided with a magnetic shielding to reduce the influence on adjacent video displays.
The crossover network is arranged in the rear terminal by independent wires, and by balancing the frequency range, more faithful playback is possible.
The enclosure is a tall boy type and has an ash black finish on the exterior.

DCM TF350A rare pair of DCM Time Frame Model 350 vintage speakers circa 1988.
DCM in their earlier days made their speakers with a Transmission Line design. This extended the bass lower than one would expect considering the small footprint of the speakers. They image wonderfully and are quite sonically transparent.
DCM TF350's have that distinctive Time Window sonic signature. DCM did not stray far from the Time Window success and enjoyed a cult like following in the 1980's. The musical presentation is near holographic. First and foremost is the much improved sound-stage. The depth is quite profound. Although they don't disappear altogether, the cabinets just about go away when listening. So, instead of closing one's eyes and hearing music coming from two distinct places, it's now more of a wall of sound in front of the listener.
The Time Frame speakers are mirror imaged speakers. Meaning there is a left and right to them. By placing the DCM Logo to the inside edges of the pair, this accomplished the mirror image effect. Like the Time Windows they have a fabric sock covering that encircles the entire speaker, with wood trim at the top and bottom of the speaker. They weigh about 32 pounds each and measure 15 inches across the base, stand 38 inches tall and have a depth of about 6 inches. Construction is first rate, these are very sturdy speakers. The base has a fold out pedestal for additional support, a very nice touch.
They have a 6 1/2" woofer and .75 inch kick ass Phillips dome tweeter.
Rated for amplifiers; 20 to 150 watts per channel, and nicely efficient at 90db/1watt/1meter
These speakers excel at Jazz and Classical music as well as vocals. The DCM TF350 can rock, make no mistake about that, but for the over the edge rocker, it won't be mistaking them for Cerwin Vega's or JBL's.
Radique's Take: after listening to these TF 350's extensively, their sound belies their modest driver size; listening blind would have guessed them to be 10" woofers. If you're looking for attractive, great sounding vintage speakers for your music listening system, these might be the ideal choice for you!

Bose 3 Driver Direct/ReflectingTower Speakers 401Distinctive Bose Triangular Towers, tested and working perfectly. The Bose 401 Series direct/reflecting speaker was manufactured in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
It is a floor-standing speaker, a bit different from the ubiquitous well-hidden Bose satellite speakers, and has a triangularly shaped footprint rather than the typical box shape of most floor-standing speakers.
Using Bose's direct/reflecting technology, the Bose 401 can create a wider soundstage than most other speakers by reflecting sound from an additional speaker driver off of an adjacent wall.
Each Bose 401 speaker weighs approximately 28.5 pounds. It's essentially an isosceles triangle shape with a base that is 11.1 inches wide at its widest point and 11.1 inches tall at its tallest point. The entire speaker tower's height is 29.6 inches.
Each 401 speaker contains three drivers. It has one 2-inch tweeter and two 6.5-inch woofers. Each woofer is located under one of the two grilles on the speaker's two front faces.
With the ability to handle anywhere from 10 to 200 watts per channel, these speakers will work with just about any amplifier or receiver. Given that they are rated from 4 to 8 ohms, you may want to use an amplifier which runs toward the high end of that range to ensure that it can provide enough power when the speaker is presenting a difficult 4 ohm load.
