Audio Consignment Ottawa | Radique Consignment Policy
Turn your unused used and vintage audio gear into cash — with a partner who actually knows what it’s worth.
Selling audio components in Ottawa by consignment doesn’t have to be complicated. If you’ve got a shelf full of used and vintage amplifiers, a pair of high-quality speakers you’ve outgrown, or a classic receiver gathering dust, Radique’s audio consignment service in Ottawa puts your gear in front of the right audience — audiophiles who value quality, condition, and provenance — while we handle the testing, listing, selling, and after-sale support. Here’s exactly how our consignment process works from start to finish. 👇
🤷 Why consign your audio gear instead of selling it yourself?
We get it — selling used and vintage audio gear privately can work, but it rarely feels good. Most folks who come to us for audio consignment have already tried (or winced at the thought of trying) the DIY route. Here’s what they’re usually tired of:
• 🕑 The time sink — writing listings, taking photos, answering endless “is this still available?” messages.
• 💸 The lowballers — “I’ll give you $50 for your $400 receiver” — over and over again.
• 🚪 The no-shows — people who commit to a pickup time and then vanish.
• 🔧 The “does it work?” problem — buyers rightly wanting proof, which you can’t always provide without a bench and test gear.
• 🛡️ No warranty to offer — which drops your sale price and narrows your buyer pool dramatically.
• 🧰 Heavy gear, awkward logistics — moving a 60-lb receiver or a pair of tower speakers in and out of your living room for strangers is nobody’s favourite Saturday.
With Radique, all of that goes away. We do the work, we vouch for the gear, and you get an E-Transfer in your inbox. 🎉

💎 What kinds of used and vintage audio gear do you accept?
We specialize in high-quality used and vintage audio components — the kind of gear that rewards proper testing, fair pricing, and a warranty-backed listing. That includes:
• 🎛️ Receivers, integrated amplifiers, preamps, and power amps
• 🔊 Floorstanding, bookshelf, and bespoke speakers (including higher-end subs)
• 🎚️ Turntables, cassette decks, and CD players
• 📻 Tuners, equalizers, and select home-theatre processors
• 🎧 Premium headphones and headphone amplifiers
Minimum value guidelines for consignment:
• 💵 Single component: $500 CAD minimum estimated value
• 📦 Package of components: $1,000 CAD minimum combined estimated value
Why the minimums? Consignment involves a real amount of work on our end — testing, photography, listing, inquiries, auditioning, selling, after-sale support — and below these thresholds, it simply isn’t worthwhile for either of us to go through the process. For lower-value items, a direct cash offer or a donation are usually better options, and we’re happy to point you in the right direction.
🧾 How does the Radique audio consignment process start?
Audio consignment with Radique starts with a simple conversation.
• You send us a list of the used and vintage components you’d like to sell, with a basic description of cosmetic condition and functionality.
• We reply with a ballpark list price for each item — our expected listing price based on current market demand and condition.
No obligation, no paperwork yet. Just a realistic sense of what your gear is worth. If you’d like some background on why audiophiles across Canada trust us with their used and vintage gear, have a look at Why Buy from Radique.
📦 What happens when I drop off my gear?
Once the estimated prices look good to you, you arrange a drop-off at our Ottawa shop. If you’re outside the immediate area, ask about our curbside delivery and pickup service — we can often collect gear from along the Windsor–Quebec City corridor.
• We test every component at our expense, since we provide a warranty to every customer at the point of sale.
• You get the full testing report — including any adjustments to the estimated prices based on what we find during in-person evaluation.
This is where our process differs from a typical reseller: we stand behind what we sell, so we make sure we know exactly what we’re selling.
🔧 What if my consigned item needs service or repair?
If a component needs work to be sale-ready, here’s how we handle it:
• We cover the upfront cost of the repair.
• The service cost is later deducted from the gross sales proceeds — not billed to you directly.
• We will never proceed to the repair stage without your explicit permission.
This keeps your out-of-pocket cost at zero while the item is on our bench. Most repairs are handled in-house by our service team, which means faster turnaround and lower costs than outsourcing.
🛒 How is my gear listed for sale?
Once you approve the final list prices, we post your component(s) across all our sales channels — our used & vintage audio shop, Kijiji, Facebook Marketplace, CanuckAudioMart, and any other platforms appropriate for the gear in question. Every listing is backed by our Bumper-to-Bumper Warranty, which is a big part of why our listings convert faster than private-sale equivalents. 💪
Every buyer also receives our Perpetual Trade-Back Policy on their purchase — a major driver of repeat business and another reason our listings move quickly.
🤔 What if I change my mind after you’ve started?
It happens — and we’ve built in a clear path for it.
• A standard bench testing fee of $75 per component applies if you cancel after we’ve begun work.
• Any repair labour already performed is billed at our standard retail service rate — not the discounted in-house cost rate we use when calculating consignment proceeds. (That reduced rate is only extended in exchange for the future consignment sale.)
• Any parts and outside expenses already incurred are billed at cost.
Translation: no surprises. You’ll always know what’s on the meter before we proceed, and we’ll confirm with you in writing before any billable work begins.
💸 When and how do I get paid for my consigned gear?
As each item sells, you receive 50% of the net sales amount via E-Transfer.
• Payment is issued after a brief customer cooling-off period following the sale. This window confirms the customer is satisfied and isn’t returning the item under our warranty or satisfaction policy. Once the sale is locked in as final, your E-Transfer goes out promptly.
• Net sales = sales total minus any required repair costs.
• All other expenses — HST, warranty costs, advertising, finance costs, shipping, and our soft labour costs¹ — come out of Radique’s portion.
• Listed prices include HST, with the HST amount deducted from Radique’s 50% of net sales.
We send each E-Transfer directly to the email address on file, and we’ll always follow up with a sale confirmation so you know exactly what sold, for how much, and when to expect payment.
📉 Can the listing price change after it’s posted?
Yes, with some guardrails:
• We request up to 10% pricing latitude on the final sale price to accommodate our repeat-customer and stacking-discount policies.
• If an item hasn’t sold within six months, we may look to reduce the list price — but we’ll always contact you for permission first.
The used and vintage audio market moves in seasons and trends, and a small price adjustment at the right time can be the difference between a stale listing and a quick sale.
