🎯 What is the Radique Perpetual Trade-Back Program?

The Radique Perpetual Trade-Back Program is our in-house vintage audio trade-back program for customers who purchase qualifying used and vintage components from Radique. Instead of being stuck with a system forever, you can trade back eligible components at any time in the future for store credit toward other used or vintage gear. Credit is calculated as a percentage of your original purchase price for the component (excluding shipping, taxes, and fees) and can be used again and again as your system evolves. There is no set end date — as long as Radique is operating, the program is available, which is why we call it perpetual.

👤 Who is eligible for Perpetual Trade-Back?

The program is available to the original customer who purchased a qualifying used or vintage component directly from Radique, whether that was:

• In person at our Ottawa shop
• Through our main website
• Via one of our sales channels where Radique is the seller (Kijiji, Facebook Marketplace, CanuckAudioMart, Etsy, etc.)

The key rules are:

• The item must have been sold by Radique
• It must be a used or vintage component — not new gear, accessories, or cables
• It must not have been sold “as-is” or otherwise marked as final sale
• The benefit normally stays with the original purchaser unless you’ve added our extended warranty (see transfer section below)

💎 Which products qualify — and which don’t?

Qualifying products are used and vintage audio components purchased from Radique, such as:

• Receivers, integrated amplifiers, preamps, and power amps
• Floorstanding, bookshelf, and higher-quality subwoofers
• Turntables, cassette decks, and CD players
• Tuners, equalizers, and select home-theatre processors

Not covered by PTBP:

• New products (Marantz, Denon, Polk Audio, Definitive Technology, etc.)
• Accessories and cables (including Radique Audio cables, adapters, and small accessories)
• As-is / final-sale items and any clearly marked clearance items
• Gear purchased second-hand from a private owner after the original Radique sale (unless formally transferred via our extended-warranty exception)

💲 How much credit do I get, and how is it calculated?

Your Trade-Back credit is based on the original purchase price of the component itself — the amount you paid to Radique for that item, after any discounts or coupons, and excluding shipping, taxes, brokerage, tariffs, or other fees.

For example: if you bought a vintage amplifier for $1,000 CAD plus tax and shipping, your Trade-Back credit is calculated on the $1,000 component price only. If you trade it back after 18 months, you receive $600 CAD in store credit toward other used or vintage components.

🧾 How do I register my purchase for Trade-Back eligibility?

For most online purchases made through the Radique website or through our Etsy shop, you don’t need to do anything extra — your order is already tied to your name and contact details in our systems.

For purchases where a formal invoice may not exist — like Kijiji, Facebook Marketplace, CanuckAudioMart, or some in-person transactions — we ask you to send a quick registration email to [email protected] after your purchase. Please include:

• Your name and contact information
• The date and platform of the purchase
• The component you purchased (make, model, brief description)

We’ll confirm by email once your purchase has been flagged as eligible for the Perpetual Trade-Back Program.

🔁 Can I transfer my warranty and Trade-Back benefit if I sell my gear?

In the standard case (no extended warranty), the Perpetual Trade-Back benefit is for the original customer only and is not transferable if you later sell the item to someone else.

However, if you purchase a Radique extended warranty on a qualifying used or vintage component, then both:

• The extended warranty, and
• The Perpetual Trade-Back eligibility
can be transferred once to a new owner.

To make the transfer, either the seller or buyer simply emails us with:

• Original owner’s name and contact details
• New owner’s name and contact details
• The component details (make, model, serial if available)
• Date the ownership changed hands

This turns your transferable coverage into a real selling feature when you list your component — “Includes transferable Radique extended warranty and Perpetual Trade-Back coverage” tends to catch attention!

📦 How do I start a Trade-Back?

Starting a Trade-Back is simple:

1. Contact us at [email protected] or by phone and let us know which component you’re considering trading in.
2. We verify eligibility, look up your original purchase price, and give you a preliminary credit estimate based on when you bought it.
3. Local customers book a drop-off appointment; remote customers can arrange shipping (we can help with discounted labels).
4. We inspect and test your gear when it arrives. If everything matches expectations, we confirm the final credit and add it to your account.

🔧 What condition does my gear need to be in?

Your Trade-Back credit assumes your component is returned in similar working and cosmetic condition to when it left our shop, allowing for normal, careful use. If we find:

• New functional problems (channels out, noise, failure to power on, etc.)
• Significant new cosmetic damage (major scratches, dents, water damage)
• Missing major accessories that were included at the time of sale
• Evidence of inappropriate modifications

…we may need to deduct repair costs from your credit, or in rare cases decline to accept the unit into the program. In all cases, we’ll discuss what we’ve found and your options before anything is finalized.

🌍 How does Trade-Back work for customers outside Ottawa or outside Canada?

Remote and US customers can absolutely use the Perpetual Trade-Back Program. The main difference is that shipping your gear back to us is your responsibility. We’re happy to help arrange discounted prepaid shipping labels using our carrier volume rates to keep costs reasonable.

Once your component arrives and passes inspection, we apply your Trade-Back credit to your Radique account. You can then use that credit toward other qualifying used or vintage components, including future shipped orders. As always, credit is calculated on your original component purchase price from Radique, excluding shipping, taxes, and any import-related charges you may have paid to carriers or customs.

💳 Is Trade-Back credit a refund, and does it ever expire?

Perpetual Trade-Back credit is store credit only. It is not a cash refund to your original payment method. You can apply your credit toward any qualifying used or vintage component at Radique, and you can spread it across multiple purchases if you like — you’re not forced to use it all in one shot.

There is no fixed expiry date for Trade-Back credit. As long as Radique is operating, your credit remains available on your account. 🎵 Who actually uses the Perpetual Trade-Back Program?

Lots of different people — and that’s one of the things we love most about this program.

Students & first-time buyers: We’ve had high-school students come in with a parent and spend money they’ve saved for years (or a gift from a grandparent) on their first entry-level system. A few years later they return as college or university students to trade that system in for something better. Then, after graduation, they come back yet again — now earning real money — and step into a mid-range or high-end system. Some of these customers have used their Trade-Back benefit five or six times as their systems and lives have grown.

Watching that happen has been one of the coolest parts of offering this program. 😊

Young families: Other customers started with a fairly serious setup, then had young children and decided they needed something more toddler-friendly — fewer fragile pieces and less temptation for curious hands. They traded into more practical gear for those years, then later traded again into something more ambitious once the kids were older or out of the house.

Downsizing audiophiles: We also see long-time audiophiles who own large, high-end systems in detached homes and then downsize into condos or smaller houses. The Perpetual Trade-Back Program lets them move from a big, room-dominating rig into a more compact system that still sounds great but fits their new space — without feeling like they’ve thrown away their original investment.

People leaving (and returning to) Canada: A few customers have used the program when leaving the country for work. Instead of paying to store their gear for two or four years while it quietly depreciates, they trade it back before they go, lock in their credit with us, and then use that credit to build a fresh system when they come back to Canada.
