Rotel RC-870 Preamplifier – MM/MC Phono, Made in Japan, 1985
Rotel called this a stereo control amplifier rather than a preamp, and it earns the name — no tone controls, no filters, no loudness, just four line inputs and two tape loops with dubbing either way. The phono stage runs moving magnet and moving coil through separate buffers, and line distortion is no greater than 0.004%. Stamped Tokyo, Japan on the rear panel. Excellent cosmetic condition.
Sony STR-AV880 Stereo Receiver 110WPC – Japan, MM/MC Phono
110 watts a channel into 8 ohms at 0.006% distortion, with a phono stage that switches between moving magnet and moving coil from the front panel. Introduced around 1986 as an A/V control centre — toroidal transformer, FM/AM presets, speaker A and B, tape loops, 21.2 lbs. Made in Japan. Very good condition.
