Impressive, Hand Crafted Compact Totem Towers ArroImpressive, Hand Crafted Compact Totem Towers in Black Ash Finish
From Totem:
"Straight to the heart
The Totem Arro shoots straight to the heart. The Arro’s strong frequency extension and broad-spectrum harmonics blend in a phase-perfect conjunction that transmits the true essence of music. With its ultra-slim design, the alluring and versatile Arro speaker is an aesthetic room-pleaser that allows endless placement possibilities.
Omni-directional in character, the Arro defies the laws of physics with extreme bass extension and holographic sound imaging. If you like authentic-sounding performances that reach beyond the realm of space and time, experience the streamlined beauty of the Totem Arro.
Customized Drivers
Every single driver is completely unique to Totem and proprietary in design, engineered by Totem and then manufactured to the strictest standards to meet our parameters by the finest raw driver suppliers in the world. In some cases, where the technology is beyond the capabilities of suppliers or is wished to kept secret, Totem can and will build our own drivers. Every driver exhibits phase linearity, speed, emotion, off axis natural presentation, and spatial articulation.
Handmade Crossovers
Totem crossovers don’t require many parts because of the synergy between our customized drivers, but the components are the world’s best. Our crossovers aren’t built on PCB’s because the laminated conductive tracks are weak and inconsistent. Instead they are secured to a thin piece of fiberboard or insulated polymers and components are mechanically crimped together because it simply sounds better. When we must solder, we choose WBT Silver Solder, the purest in the industry.
Artisanal Cabinet Construction
Meticulously hand crafted for peak performance that lasts decades. Lock-Miter assembly is an intricate woodworking procedure where edges physically interlock together. The resulting cabinet is up to 5 times stronger than conventional V Groove cabinets. Internal and external veneering resists warping, structurally fortifies, and ensures consistent peak performance. Industry unique Borosilicate damping manages dissipation, keeps the cabinet musically alive, and never deteriorates. Popular materials like poly fillers eventually decay, dramatically affecting the performance. Variable Density Fiberboard is denser at the extremities than the interior to reduce repetitive nodes and resonances.
Connectors
Two sets of high conductivity gold plated connectors efficiently capture the incoming signal for superior speaker performance and allow traditional, bi-wire, or even bi-amplification options. They accommodate a variety of connection options such as bare wire, banana plugs, and spades."
Design Highlights:
Ultra slim design
Aesthetic compactness
Easily installed close to back walls
Absolute surreal imaging
Great bass extension with speed, alacrity and phase correctness
Full monocoque chassis
Interlocking mitred joints
Borosilicate damping
Bi-wireable
Specially modified proprietary drivers

High End PSB Tower Speakers in High Gloss Black Stratus SilverHigh End PSB Tower Speakers in High Gloss Black. These speakers sound fantastic, but the cabinets on them are only in "Fair to Good" condition, and we do not have the grills for them. Hence the $300 lower price as we would normally list them for $995. The Stratus Silvers used to be the 2nd best speakers in PSB’s lineup (after the Stratus Golds). However, compared to the Stratus Golds which were very power hungry and required a high current amp to sound their best, the Silvers are quite efficient and sound great with a wide variety of amplifiers from quality receivers to high end amps.
Another advantage the Silvers have over their bigger brother is that they are not nearly as sensitive to placement. Put the Golds too close to the back wall & they're almost certainly sound boomy whereas the Silvers are significantly more versatile, placement-wise. For these reasons, many audiophiles actually prefer the Silvers over the Golds.

Great sounding quality 4-Driver Towers from Infinity Beta 40The Betas are our favourite mid-range series from Infinity.
We've been using a pair of trusty Beta 50's in our primary listening area for the past several years, and we'd used Beta 40's previously for the same application. We had them set up in a bi-wired configuration, and they sound extremely impressive for this price point.
Music and movie lovers will find a lot to like in Infinity's Beta 40. This slender tower speaker uses Infinity's most advanced drivers to produce a wide soundstage and precise imaging. Its solid MDF cabinet houses a 1" tweeter, a 5" midrange, and dual 6-1/2" woofers. You'll enjoy detailed, accurate highs and mids plus distinct, musical bass.
This speaker owes its open, natural sound to Infinity's patented Ceramic Metal Matrix Diaphragm driver material — the same material Infinity uses in their top-of-the-line models. CMMD™ combines layers of ceramic with a stiff metal core for crystal-clear sonic performance. It's strong and durable, yet incredibly lightweight and responsive.
Features: video-shielded, bass-reflex (ported) enclosure, two sets of quality 5-way binding posts for bi-wiring, innovative metal grills (great for preventing small hands from denting the domes or cones)
Power Handling of 200 Watts at 8 Ohms impedance, Frequency response 45-20,000 Hz (±3dB), Sensitivity of 91 dB
Drivers: 3-way design featuring: 1" CMMD tweeter, 5" CMMD midrange driver, dual 6-1/2" CMMD woofers
Dimensions: 8-7/8"W x 38-5/16"H x 13-3/8"D. Weight: 50.26 pounds each.
MSRP of $800 USD. This pair is in very good cosmetic and sonic condition. Asking just $495 Canadian.

Infinity SM 115Infinity Studio Monitor Series Super High Efficiency Speakers.
These superb speakers were under-valued in their day, priced to compete with lower-quality offerings, but truly deserving of their "Studio Monitor Series" designation. Their smooth and transparent response make them ideal for classical music or jazz - without the "jukebox" bass suited to rock or disco music.
They're also perfect for building a home theater system on a budget, able to provide clear dialog without a center-channel speaker and all the necessary explosions and earthquakes without a sub-woofer. And due their super-high efficiency (see specs below) they can do it all without a high-powered amplifier.
Specifications:
Type: 3 way, 3 driver loudspeaker system
Frequency Response: 35Hz to 27kHz
Recommended Amplifier: 10 to 175W
Crossover Frequency: 900, 5500Hz

Tannoy Revolution Floorstanders w/ Real Wood VeneerHigh end, ultra-compact floorstander from Tannoy, operating in a two-and-a-half-way configuration and boasting real wood veneer in "espresso" finish.
The small diameter drivers means the enclosure – about 11 litres in capacity at a rough estimate – is exceptionally slim and quite shallow, which certainly ensures a high WAF rating.
The actual cones used here are just 80mm in diameter, so the area of each one is only around two-thirds that of the 100mm cones used in the 130mm units that are commonly found in miniature speakers.
Two 80mm cones, however, have a combined area that's not all that far short of those used by the ubiquitous 165mm drivers. Both drivers' coated paper cone diaphragms are driven by 33mm voice coils, while the dual concentric's tweeter uses a 19mm titanium dome, well protected down behind a tulip waveguide horn.
Amongst the luxury touches on these Tannoy's, the outside edges of both drive units are decorated by shiny alloy trim rings.
Twin terminal pairs provide bi-wire or bi-amp options and are conveniently situated close to the floor. According to Tannoy, the internal wiring and crossover components have been carefully selected on sound quality grounds.
The strengths of these speakers are their overall coherence and openness through the broad midband, which brings considerable expressiveness and believability to human voices, sung or spoken. This is arguably the most important trick that any speaker can pull and the bonus here is that the speaker is free from any heaviness or chestiness and has a fine agility and freedom from boxiness.
Then there's the dual concentric bonus, which brings fine imaging to the table, alongside superior off-axis consistency, so a good stereo image is well maintained across a generous listening zone.
Technical Information: Magnetically Shielded, Rear Ported, Ideal placement distance from wall: 33 cm
Drivers Compliment:

Distinctive Technics Speakers w Aluminum honeycomb Tech SB-X700ADistinctive Vintage Technics Speakers with proprietary Aluminum honeycomb Driver technology, Made in Japan.
Radique's Take: Efficient, extremely accurate vintage Technics Speakers. Definitely quite different from the more ubiquitous mass market Technics floor standers.
Description below excerpted from excellent review at HiFiClassic.net
"A good dynamic speaker driver should have a rigid, low-mass diaphragm, or radiating surface, and speaker designers have tried for years to develop driver shapes and materials that approximate a rigid-piston ideal. Rigidity is important because a flexing driver radiating surface produces an uneven frequency response through the effect known as “cone breakup.” A low-mass material is needed for a driver to have reasonably high efficiency; a massive cone may be satisfactory otherwise, but it requires higher amplifier driving power.
Most dynamic drivers use cone-shaped diaphragms (the cone shape imparts considerable rigidity to a driver) molded of paper or low-mass plastic mixtures. A few years ago, Technics developed a “honeycomb” diaphragm structure that the company believes comes closer to the piston-radiator ideal than previous designs, and it has introduced a line of speaker systems whose drivers employ this honeycomb construction.
The “cone” of a Technics honeycomb driver is a flat plate shaped like the classic circular piston. It is made of a very light aluminum honeycomb whose “axial symmetry” gives it equal rigidity (resistance to bending) in all directions. The honeycomb’s cell density increases toward the center of the disc, concentrating the vibration nodes (regions around which the flexing modes pivot) near the center. This enables the voice coil to drive the diaphragm at a vibration node, further minimizing flexing and spurious resonances.
The honeycomb is sandwiched between two layers of thin aluminum-foil “skin,” forming a disc about 1/4 inch thick, with a conventional (though relatively large-diameter) voice coil bonded to its rear surface. In other respects a Technics honeycomb driver is much like a conventional cone speaker, except that its extremely light, rigid diaphragm (about 1,000 times more rigid than paper) is relatively free of the usual cone breakup (resonance) effects. Also, flat-diaphragm drivers mounted in the same plane are necessarily aligned in signal phase; expensive crossover-network designs or unusual cabinet shapes are therefore not needed in order to compensate for the different depths of the drivers in a system.
The SB-X700 is the largest of three honeycomb-driver systems Technics has introduced to the American market. It is a three-way system with a vertically aligned 12-inch woofer, a 3-1/8-inch midrange driver, and a 1-1/8-inch tweeter. The two lower-frequency drivers have honeycomb diaphragms, and the tweeter uses a flat laminated-mica diaphragm radiating through a radially slotted disc so as to improve its dispersion. The crossover frequencies are 1,000 and 4,000 Hz, and the woofer operates in a ported enclosure.
The Technics SB-X700, nominally an 8-ohm system, is rated to deliver a 90-dB sound-pressure level at 1 meter with an input of 1 watt. It is rated to handle a drive power of up to 180 watts of music signal. The frequency response of the SB-X700 is specified as 39 to 30,000 Hz “at 10 dB below average level,” with no explanation of this unconventional rating.
The walnut-grain-veneered cabinet of the SB-X700 is 26-3/8 inches high, 15 inches wide, and 13 inches deep, and the system weighs about 36-1/2 pounds. The black cloth grille unsnaps to reveal the drivers and two knobs for adjusting the levels of the midrange and high-frequency drivers. A thermal circuit breaker with a front-panel reset button protects the speaker against burnout during sustained high-power operation.
We first heard the Technics honeycomb speakers, then being introduced to the Japanese market, a couple of years ago on a visit to the company’s Osaka headquarters. We were favorably impressed by what we heard and looked forward to hearing and testing them in a familiar environment. (Only too often we find that speakers that sound impressive in the field fail to live up to their promise when they finally come to us for testing.) Although the SB-X700 probably differs slightly from the speakers we heard in Japan, we were not at all disappointed by what we heard and measured in the lab.
To some extent, the sound of the SB-X700 can be predicted from its measured frequency response. Its sound was warm and sometimes bordered on heaviness in our rather absorbent listening/test room. The sound was best with the speakers placed on the floor; positioning them about 28 inches above the floor and against a wall produced excessive bass emphasis in our room (of course, the results in another environment would probably be very different). The middles and highs were smooth and uncolored; the sound stage, at times remarkably lifelike, was located approximately in the plane of the speakers and a couple of feet in front of the wall. These are thoroughly listenable and enjoyable speakers, standing up well in comparisons with a number of far costlier systems."

DCM TF350A rare pair of DCM Time Frame Model 350 vintage speakers circa 1988.
DCM in their earlier days made their speakers with a Transmission Line design. This extended the bass lower than one would expect considering the small footprint of the speakers. They image wonderfully and are quite sonically transparent.
DCM TF350's have that distinctive Time Window sonic signature. DCM did not stray far from the Time Window success and enjoyed a cult like following in the 1980's. The musical presentation is near holographic. First and foremost is the much improved sound-stage. The depth is quite profound. Although they don't disappear altogether, the cabinets just about go away when listening. So, instead of closing one's eyes and hearing music coming from two distinct places, it's now more of a wall of sound in front of the listener.
The Time Frame speakers are mirror imaged speakers. Meaning there is a left and right to them. By placing the DCM Logo to the inside edges of the pair, this accomplished the mirror image effect. Like the Time Windows they have a fabric sock covering that encircles the entire speaker, with wood trim at the top and bottom of the speaker. They weigh about 32 pounds each and measure 15 inches across the base, stand 38 inches tall and have a depth of about 6 inches. Construction is first rate, these are very sturdy speakers. The base has a fold out pedestal for additional support, a very nice touch.
They have a 6 1/2" woofer and .75 inch kick ass Phillips dome tweeter.
Rated for amplifiers; 20 to 150 watts per channel, and nicely efficient at 90db/1watt/1meter
These speakers excel at Jazz and Classical music as well as vocals. The DCM TF350 can rock, make no mistake about that, but for the over the edge rocker, it won't be mistaking them for Cerwin Vega's or JBL's.
Radique's Take: after listening to these TF 350's extensively, their sound belies their modest driver size; listening blind would have guessed them to be 10" woofers. If you're looking for attractive, great sounding vintage speakers for your music listening system, these might be the ideal choice for you!
