German-Made Dual CS 503-1 “Audiophile Concept” Semi-Automatic Turntable
This Dual has been fully serviced, including dust cover restoration (looks great!) and the addition of an excellent Ortofon OM5E model cartridge/stylus with its distinctive sleek, narrow design and bright red stylus housing. The OM5E is a moving magnet (MM) cartridge, highly regarded for its excellent sound quality and versatility, making it a popular choice for mid-range turntables and higher-end turntables.
This classic German-engineered Dual CS 503-1 turntable from the late 1980s represents exceptional European craftsmanship and design. Part of Dual’s respected “Audiophile Concept” line, this belt-driven turntable delivers warm, natural sound reproduction that has earned it a loyal following among vinyl enthusiasts.
The CS 503-1 features a precision tacho-controlled DC motor for outstanding speed stability, paired with a die-cast aluminum platter that provides excellent rotational accuracy. The semi-automatic operation offers convenience while maintaining audiophile sound quality. The well-balanced tonearm design accommodates a variety of cartridges, allowing you to customize your listening experience.
Thoughtfully engineered with a non-resonant plinth and damped platter, this turntable minimizes unwanted vibrations for cleaner sound reproduction. Reviewers have noted its “uncharacteristically warm” sound signature compared to other turntables with similar construction, with performance often compared favorably to the respected Rega Planar 2.
