A compact, fully shielded Tannoy center channel in dark oak, designed in the UK, bench-checked and ready to anchor the dialogue in a Tannoy Mercury system or any other 8-ohm home cinema.
What it is
The Mercury mxC pairs two 10 cm ceramic-coated paper cones with a center-mounted soft-dome tweeter in a twin rear-ported cabinet — the recipe that made the Mercury range Tannoy’s best-selling line for two decades. It is fully magnetically shielded, so it sits happily on top of or beneath a television, and at 90 dB it comes alive on modest amplifier power. Voices are articulate and tight, which is the whole job of a center speaker.
Speaker connection is a single pair of five-way binding posts on the rear panel, which take banana plugs, spades or bare wire. It is not bi-wirable.
Choose your grille
The mxC was supplied with either a silver-grey or a black cloth grille over the same dark oak cabinet and the same cream-coned drivers. Pick the grille that suits your room from the menu above; the photographs show both, and the speaker with the grille removed.
🎬 Complete the Tannoy Mercury mx set — all in dark oak
This center was voiced to sit between Tannoy’s Mercury mx floor-standers, and we have them on the shelf in the same dark oak: the Mercury mX4 slim towers and the Mercury mx3 floor-standers. Add the Tannoy PS 110 subwoofer and you have a matched 3.1 Tannoy home cinema from one family, timbre-matched front to center, for well under a thousand dollars. Ask us — we will confirm the set and quote the shipping together.
Condition
Very good. Cabinets and grilles present well with only light marks of age; every unit has been through our bench check and plays as it should.

🔌 Speaker Cable, Built on Our Own Bench
The speaker terminals here are five-way binding posts, so they take banana plugs or spade lugs and you have the run of the options. We hand-build speaker cable here in any length you need — choose the gauge and the terminations on our Custom Speaker Cable Builder. If you would rather terminate cable you already own, we make our own gold-plated banana plugs and spade connectors as well. 👉
🦶 Keep it off the TV stand — IsoAcoustics ISO-PUCK Mini
A center speaker usually lives on a television stand or a shelf, and the cabinet passes its energy straight into it. At 6.8 kg the mxC is exactly what the IsoAcoustics ISO-PUCK Mini was made for — four under the speaker decouple it from the furniture and tighten the dialogue. We are an authorized IsoAcoustics dealer.
Priced per speaker. We ship across Canada, to the US and overseas, packed in a 275 lb test double-wall box: add it to the cart and, on the cart page, enter your city and postal code to see live carrier rates for your address. Or collect it in Kanata by appointment.
