A compact, fully shielded Tannoy center channel in dark oak, designed in the UK, bench-checked and ready to anchor the dialogue in a Tannoy Mercury system or any other 8-ohm home cinema.
What it is
The Mercury mxC-M pairs two 10 cm ceramic-coated paper cones with a center-mounted soft-dome tweeter in a twin rear-ported cabinet — the recipe that made the Mercury range Tannoy’s best-selling line for two decades. It is fully magnetically shielded, so it sits happily on top of or beneath a television, and at 90 dB it comes alive on modest amplifier power. Voices are articulate and tight, which is the whole job of a center speaker.
Speaker connection is a single pair of five-way binding posts on the rear panel, which take banana plugs, spades or bare wire. It is not bi-wirable.

The mxC-M was supplied with either a silver-grey or a black cloth grille over the same dark oak cabinet and the same cream-coned drivers. Pick the grille that suits your room from the menu above; the photographs show both, and the speaker with the grille removed.

Very good. Cabinets and grilles present well with only light marks of age; every unit has been through our bench check and plays as it should.

Tannoy HTS200 Centre Channel Speaker — Black Ash
A 19 mm titanium WideBand dome on a neodymium magnet between two 75 mm paper cones, crossed at 3 kHz — the same driver set as the HTS200 towers, so the front stage stays tonally consistent as sound pans across it. 100 Hz to 40 kHz, 87 dB, 6 ohms. Four and a bit inches tall, black ash, magnetically shielded.

Yamaha NS-C90 Center Speaker – Dual-Angle Tilt, Made in Japan
The cabinet is asymmetrical on purpose: flip it over and it tilts the other way, aiming up at you from a low shelf or down at you from the top of a cabinet. Sealed rather than ported, so it needs no rear clearance. Two full-range drivers, nothing crossing in the vocal band. 6 ohms, 50 watts nominal. Built in Japan; very good condition.
