Monitor Audio Radius 250HD LCR Speaker – Gloss Black, Wall-Mount

A slim gloss black Monitor Audio speaker from the Radius HD range, in good condition, built to work as a left, center, right or rear speaker, standing upright, lying flat or hung on a wall.

What it is

Monitor Audio launched the Radius HD range in 2008 as a family of compact home theatre speakers, and the 250HD was its tallest LCR model. Each cabinet carries two 4″ mid/bass drivers with Monitor Audio’s MMP II cones, set either side of a 1″ C-CAM gold dome tweeter. Because that layout is symmetrical, the same speaker can stand upright beside a screen as a left or right channel, lie flat above or below it as the center, or hang behind the seating as a rear surround, and it sounds the same in every position. One on its own makes a slim stand-alone center; two make a stereo pair or a set of rears; three make a matched front stage, with no change of voice as sound pans across the screen.

The long cabinet is what sets the 250HD apart from the smaller models in the range. It gives the two drivers more air to work with, and two front ports, one at each end of the baffle, carry the bass down to a rated 50 Hz. With the ports on the front, the speaker is happy close to a wall or hung flat on one. At 90 dB sensitivity and 8 ohms, it is an easy load for any home theatre receiver.

Two keyhole openings built into the back let the speaker hang straight on a pair of wall screws, or on the matching Radius 250HD wall bracket, listed separately at $30: a slim black metal rail with a stand-off at each end that mates with those keyholes, mounting the speaker horizontally or vertically. Either way, the gold-plated 5-way binding posts sit in a recessed cup, so the cables stay flush with the wall. They take bare wire, spades, pins or banana plugs; we recommend our own Radique Audio gold-plated banana plugs, and our Custom Speaker Cable Builder will make a pair to the exact length your run needs.

The 250HD launched in Britain in 2008 at £250 each, about $725 in 2026 Canadian dollars. For comparison, in 2026 Monitor Audio’s smaller current LCR model, the Radius 225, sells new in Canada for $629.99 CAD (approx. US$455) each.

Condition

Good. Under bright light, the gloss black cabinets show some light scratches, which is why we grade them Good rather than Very Good. They still present well, and they sound great. Each speaker comes with its black cloth grille.
