The short answer

Radique Audio banana plugs are gold-plated speaker cable connectors for standard binding posts. Each plug holds the wire with two set screws rather than one screw or a compression sleeve, grips the post with a six-leaf gold-plated spring, and wears a full-length non-conductive jacket colour-coded red or black for polarity. They take 12 to 18 AWG wire, weigh 19.4 g a pair, and are sold in packs of 1, 2, 4, 5, 7 or 14 pairs.

Which connector does your gear need?

All four share the same red and black colour coding, so polarity reads at a glance whichever ends you choose. Not sure what your gear takes? Look at the terminals on the back, or send us the make and model.

The wire is held at two points, so it won’t work loose behind the rack, the way single-screw and compression plugs can.

A six-leaf gold-plated spring presses into the binding post for a firm contact, connection after connection.

Full-length red and black jackets, non-conductive, so plugs that touch can’t short and you won’t need a flashlight to check your wiring.

How we pack your order

Cables and connectors ship in our high-quality Radique Audio bubble packs. If your order also includes speakers or other larger gear, everything is boxed up together in our 275 lb-test double-wall packaging, as in this video.

Questions we get about this one

Will they fit your speaker wire?

They take 12 to 18 AWG. 18 to 14 AWG goes in easily; 12 AWG is a tight fit and goes in with care. Much thicker audiophile cable won’t fit; ask us and we’ll suggest an option.

How do they go on?

Strip the wire, twist the strands so none stray, slide it into the connector and tighten the two set screws with a small flat-head screwdriver. That’s all it takes.

Bananas, spades or pins: which do you need?

Bananas suit the standard 5-way binding posts on most amplifiers and speakers: they push in and pull out without tools. Spades clamp under a binding post and suit larger posts. Pins are for spring-clip and guillotine terminals, common on vintage gear.

Do the plugs wear out?

Over time, yes, like any spring contact. We use them daily in our shop with many plug-ins and they last about two years at that pace; plugged in less often, they last longer.

How many do you need?

One pair per speaker cable: a red and a black plug. A stereo pair of cables with plugs at both ends takes 4 pairs.

What warranty does it have?

What does shipping cost? Is pickup possible?

Pickup in Kanata is free, by appointment. To have it shipped, add it to your cart and enter your city and postal code on the cart page: you’ll see live carrier rates before you commit. We ship across Canada and internationally. Buying it with one of our pre-owned speakers or components? Then it rides along in the same order at no extra shipping cost.

Do you ship to the United States?

Yes. On Radique Audio products we add the US import duties and fees at checkout and prepay them for you, so there’s nothing to pay at delivery.
