GAIA III: the GAIA for speakers up to 70 lb

The smallest of the original GAIA isolators, and the one most floor-standing speakers need. Four of them replace your speaker’s spikes or feet, so the cabinet stands on IsoAcoustics’ isolators instead of coupling to the floor.

The short answer

IsoAcoustics GAIA III, also called GAIA 3, is a set of four isolators that screw into a floor-standing speaker or subwoofer in place of its spikes or feet. One set carries a speaker of up to 70 lb (32 kg), so a pair of speakers needs two sets. Each isolator is 1.7 in wide and 1.5 in tall (43 × 39 mm), in stainless steel, and the box includes M6-1.0, M8-1.25 and 1/4″-20 thread adaptors. IsoAcoustics says it brings more clarity, openness and three-dimensional imaging.

Pick your GAIA by speaker weight

One set of four goes under one speaker, so a pair of speakers takes two sets. Weigh one speaker, not the pair, and choose the model rated above it. Close to a limit? IsoAcoustics recommends moving up a size. All figures are IsoAcoustics’ own.

Model Speaker weight (one set of 4 per speaker) Isolator size (W × H) Thread adaptors
GAIA III (this one) 70 lb (32 kg) 1.7 × 1.5 in (43 × 39 mm) M6-1.0 · M8-1.25 · 1/4″-20
GAIA II 120 lb (54 kg) 2 × 1.7 in (51 × 43 mm) M6-1.0 · M8-1.25 · 1/4″-20
GAIA I 220 lb (100 kg) 2.5 × 1.9 in (62 × 49 mm) M8-1.25 · M12-1.25 · 1/4″-20
GAIA-TITAN Theis 320 lb (145 kg) 2.75 × 2 in (70 × 50 mm) 1/2″-13 · M8-1.25 · M14-2.0

What GAIA III does

Decouples the speaker

Spikes tie a speaker’s cabinet to the floor. GAIA isolates it instead, which IsoAcoustics says cuts the reflected energy and structure-borne resonance that blur bass, imaging and low-level detail.

Screws straight in

It replaces your speaker’s spikes or feet using the threaded inserts already in the base. Three adaptor sizes come in the box: M6-1.0, M8-1.25 and 1/4″-20.

An award-winning line

The GAIA line holds an EISA Best Product award (Hi-Fi Upgrade, 2019–2020), Stereophile’s 2019 accessory Product of the Year and a 2020 Absolute Sound Golden Ear.

Questions we get about this one

How many sets do you need?

One set of four per speaker, so two sets for a pair. Each set is rated for one speaker.

Your speaker weighs close to 70 lb. GAIA III or GAIA II?

Go up a size. IsoAcoustics recommends the next GAIA model when a speaker is close to the limit, and GAIA II is rated for 120 lb (54 kg).

Will it fit your speaker’s threads?

GAIA III comes with M6-1.0, M8-1.25 and 1/4″-20 adaptors, which cover most speakers with threaded spike inserts. Check what your current spikes screw into, or send us the make and model and we’ll check before you order. IsoAcoustics’ online product selector can help too.

What if your speaker has no threaded inserts?

GAIA screws into a threaded insert, so it needs one. Under a speaker without inserts, OREA feet sit under the cabinet instead (the OREA Bordeaux carries 32 lb (14.5 kg) each). Ask us and we’ll suggest the right option.

Does it work on carpet?

Yes. IsoAcoustics says GAIA works on carpet as it is, but on thick pile or carpet with underpad it does its best on GAIA Carpet Discs (choose the GAIA III size): solid stainless discs with 0.6 in (15 mm) spikes that give the isolators a firm base.

GAIA III or GAIA III Neo?

Same rating. GAIA III Neo adds up to 8.5 mm of height adjustment through a rotating lower ring, which helps level a speaker on an uneven floor, plus a pivoting bottom isolator and a choice of black or dark chrome. IsoAcoustics says Neo is not a replacement: the original GAIA III carries on.

Which way round does it go?

With the IsoAcoustics logo facing your listening position, or turned 180°, so the isolator lines up with the speaker’s forward and back motion.

What warranty does it have?

Brand new in IsoAcoustics’ retail box, with IsoAcoustics’ 2-year manufacturer’s warranty in Canada against defects in materials and workmanship. If anything is wrong, contact us and we’ll handle it with IsoAcoustics. More in our warranty FAQ.

What does shipping cost? Is pickup possible?

Pickup in Kanata is free, by appointment. To have it shipped, add it to your cart and enter your city and postal code on the cart page: you’ll see live carrier rates before you commit. We ship across Canada and internationally. Buying it with one of our pre-owned speakers or components? Then it rides along in the same order at no extra shipping cost.

Not sure which GAIA your speakers need?

Send us the make and model, or the weight of one speaker, and we’ll tell you which GAIA fits and which adaptor to use.

Under floor-standing speakers

GAIA isolators screw in place of your spikes, one set of four per speaker: GAIA III to 70 lb, GAIA II to 120 lb, GAIA I to 220 lb and the GAIA-TITAN Theis to 320 lb. Subwoofers sit on the Aperta Sub.

Under bookshelf speakers and monitors

The ISO-130, ISO-155 and ISO-200 stands lift, tilt and isolate desktop and shelf speakers; Aperta stands and ISO-PUCKs do the same job in other shapes.

Under turntables and electronics

OREA feet, sold singly and used three or four at a time, go under amplifiers, DACs and players. The zaZen I and zaZen II platforms give a turntable a quieter base.
