Focal Chorus 705 S Bookshelf Speakers – Technic Dark Grey, Made in France
Great-sounding, made-in-France Focal Chorus 705 S compact bookshelf / standmount speakers in the Technic dark grey finish, with good overall cosmetics and fully tested, working performance.
While the Chorus 705 S may look fairly understated at first glance, there is a lot of classic Focal engineering packed inside. These two-way speakers use Focal’s 13 cm Polyglass mid/bass driver, where a cellulose cone is coated with minute hollow glass spheres to combine rigidity, low distortion, and excellent midrange clarity. High frequencies are handled by Focal’s TNV2 aluminium/magnesium inverted dome tweeter, mounted in a sculpted top plate that is both a design element and a rigid support for precise high-frequency performance.
The TNV2 tweeter uses a Poron microcellular urethane suspension and a very light, carefully assembled diaphragm structure to maintain linear response up to the top of its range, with low breakup and a smooth, detailed top end. The result is a presentation that is clean, open, and articulate, with the kind of midrange “presence” Focal is known for, yet still easy and non-fatiguing for long listening sessions.
Cabinets are built from 18 mm and 24 mm MDF with internal bracing and non-parallel walls to reduce resonances, and a front-firing flared port helps keep bass response controlled and room-friendly even when the speakers are placed closer to a rear wall. Despite their compact size (only about 31.5 cm tall), Chorus 705 S delivers impressive weight and impact when paired with a capable amplifier, making them a strong choice for music-focused systems in small to medium rooms.

Cosmetic Condition:
Cosmetically, this Technic dark grey pair is in good overall condition. There are visible signs of use and a handful of small marks consistent with honest wear, but nothing that affects performance or stands out dramatically at normal viewing distance. Grilles and drivers are in good shape, and the speakers still present nicely on stands or shelves.
A compact, made-in-France Focal design with Polyglass mid/bass, TNV2 inverted dome tweeters, and the Technic dark grey finish, these Chorus 705 S deliver much bigger sound than their size suggests and make a great entry into the Focal sound.

Camber Laser 3 Bookshelf Speakers – Made in Ottawa, Canada
Built in Ottawa, a short drive from where they now sit. A 6.5-inch Audax mid-bass on a translucent polypropylene cone and a 1-inch dome with a centre diffusor, in light grey bezels against a dark cabinet. Two-way rear-ported, 8 ohms, 10 to 100 watts, spring clips on the back — give them room off the wall. Grilles included; very good condition.
Paradigm Monitor 3 v3 Bookshelf Speakers – 8″ Woofer, Canada
An 8-inch woofer in a cabinet small enough to sit on a stand — a 210 mm ICP cone on a die-cast chassis, with a third-generation titanium dome on the Studio-series waveguide faceplate, crossed at 2.0 kHz. Low frequency extension to 38 Hz and 91 dB room sensitivity, so 15 watts drives them and 150 is just headroom. Built in Canada, in Black Ash. Very good condition.

MartinLogan Motion 15 Bookshelf Speakers – Folded Motion, Boxed
The reason to want these is the tweeter — MartinLogan's Folded Motion driver is a pleated ribbon rather than a dome, so it squeezes air out from between its pleats and barely has to move. A 5.25-inch aluminium cone below it, 92 dB sensitivity, and the high-gloss black clean of the swirls these show so readily. Original boxes included.

JBL 62T Bookshelf Speakers – Rosewood Finish, Titanium Dome
Discounted for the aftermarket screw holes a previous owner left in the back panels, and very good everywhere else — original drivers, clean rosewood finish, both tested here. A mid-1980s two-way with a pure titanium tweeter that runs out to 23 kHz, and an easy 89 dB load that a thirty-watt vintage receiver drives properly.
Mission 731 Bookshelf — Made in England, Inverted Driver Design
Two things to tell you: a ding on the top side edge of one cabinet, and third-party binding posts a previous owner fitted to one speaker. Otherwise good — and the design is the interesting part, since Mission's inverted geometry puts the tweeter below the woofer to bring the two into step at seated ear height. Made in England.
