Paradigm J-60 26″ Fillable Welded Steel Speaker Stands – Pair
$295.00
Three welded steel columns rising from a 12 by 12 inch base to a 7.5 by 9 inch top plate — the stand Paradigm sold for the Studio 20 and the Active 20. The columns are hollow and meant to be filled: a bag of dry play sand roughly doubles their mass and stops the ringing. Supplied unfilled, with felt pads fitted and the original spikes included. Very good condition.

Paradigm J-60 Speaker Stands – 26-Inch Welded Three-Post Steel, Sand-Fillable, Felt Pads Fitted, Original Spikes Included, Very Good Condition
Stands from the era when Paradigm sold them built to a standard the current range no longer matches.
Where the J-60 Came From
The J-60 was the stand Paradigm sold for the Studio 20 and Active 20, and it was not an accessory afterthought. Three welded steel columns rise from a substantial 12 by 12 inch base to a generous 7.5 by 9 inch top plate.
Against Paradigm’s Current Stand
The comparison with Paradigm’s current stand is instructive. The J-29 occupies the same place in the range today, is still recommended for the Studio 20, and lists at $498 CAD (approx. US$355) the pair. It is built around a single extruded aluminium centre post. The J-60 in front of you has three welded steel columns and a fillable cavity, and it costs a good deal less.
The Fillable Columns
The columns are fillable, and that is the feature worth understanding. They are solid enough as they stand. Filled with dry play sand or lead shot they become genuinely inert, roughly doubling in mass and killing the ringing that turns a hollow stand into an unwanted resonator sitting directly beneath your speaker. It costs a bag of sand and an afternoon, and the improvement in bass definition is not subtle. These are supplied unfilled, so that upgrade is still in front of you.
Height and What It Suits
At 26 inches these are shorter than the 29 and 30 inch stands more commonly found, and that suits a full-size bookshelf cabinet. Put a 12 to 14 inch speaker on one of these and the tweeter lands close to seated ear height in most rooms, where a taller stand would carry it above the listening position. Worth measuring your own seating height against your cabinet before choosing a stand, whichever way it points.
The Base
The base deserves a mention too. Twelve inches square under a 26 inch column is an unusually wide stance, and it is what makes these stable enough to trust with a heavy speaker in a room with children or a dog.
Radique-Fitted Enhancements
These are mounted on Radique Audio High Density Felt pads in our signature Magenta, which suit hard flooring — hardwood, tile or laminate — and let a stand be nudged into position without marking the floor underneath it. Paradigm’s original spikes are included as well, so carpet is covered the moment you want it.
Condition
Cosmetically this pair is in very good condition.

MartinLogan Motion 15 Bookshelf Speakers – Folded Motion, Boxed
The reason to want these is the tweeter — MartinLogan's Folded Motion driver is a pleated ribbon rather than a dome, so it squeezes air out from between its pleats and barely has to move. A 5.25-inch aluminium cone below it, 92 dB sensitivity, and the high-gloss black clean of the swirls these show so readily. Original boxes included.

B&W 24″ Dual-Pillar All-Metal Speaker Stands, Pair, Like-New
Twenty-four inches, which puts a bookshelf tweeter at seated ear height, on twin steel pillars that are hollow and meant to be filled — sand or shot adds 10 to 15 lb a stand. Paradigm S-30 29″ Speaker Stands, All-Metal Pair, Black
Heavy die-cast aluminium bases under rectangular steel columns you can fill with dry sand or shot, and a cable channel run up the inside so the speaker wire never shows. Atlantic 29″ Bookshelf Speaker Stands, Carbon-Look Bases, Pair

Omage 42.5″ Dual-Pillar Speaker Stands – Matte Black
42.5 inches to the top plate, solid metal on two pillars, with the cable run hidden inside so nothing shows at the back. Angled 16″ Metal Speaker Stands – Compact, Solid Metal
Sixteen inches tall, with angled pillars that still keep the top platforms level and parallel to the floor. The platforms measure about 6.75 by 6.25 inches and the bases 12 by 10, so they hold a compact bookshelf or a satellite steadily without taking much floor. Radique high-density felt feet fitted. Very good condition, light honest wear only.
Attractive 22.5″ Speaker Stands — Glass & Metal, Black
Tempered glass top plates on a metal column and base, 22.5 inches tall and rated to 22 lbs a speaker. Sturdy Metal Speaker Stands by Atlantis 23″ — Canada | Felt Feet
Twenty-three inches to the top plate, with a 7 by 7 inch platform on an A-style base measuring 14 by 10.5 inches — a wide enough footprint that a bookshelf speaker on top is not going anywhere. Built in Canada by Atlantis, 4.8 lbs each, black. Fitted with Radique high-density felt feet, so they go straight onto hardwood or tile.
Three-Post 23″ Steel Speaker Stands – Cable Routing, Spiked
The largest of the three posts is hollow, so speaker wire drops in at the top plate and comes out at the base instead of trailing across the floor. A 10 x 12 inch base under a 23 inch column, a 5 x 6.5 inch top plate, 50 lbs per stand, and threaded adjustable spikes with rubber caps. Sold as a pair.
