JVC KD-D2 Single Cassette Deck – Made in Japan

The JVC KD-D2 is a high-quality stereo cassette deck manufactured in Japan from 1980 to 1982. This versatile deck offers excellent audio performance and user-friendly features in an attractive silver chassis.

Key features of the JVC KD-D2 include:

– 2-head design with separate record/playback and erase heads
– Support for Normal (Type I), Chrome (Type II), and Metal (Type IV) tapes
– ANRS and Dolby B noise reduction systems
– Mechanical 3-digit tape counter
– Manual tape type selection
– Belt-driven single-capstan transport
– Digital peak reading level meters with multi-color indication
– Two microphone inputs for live recordings
– Headphone output for private listening

The KD-D2 delivers impressive sound quality, with a frequency response of 30-15,000 Hz for Normal tapes and 30-16,000 Hz for Chrome and Metal tapes. The deck’s noise reduction systems, including JVC’s proprietary ANRS and the industry-standard Dolby B, effectively reduce tape hiss by up to 10 dB at high frequencies.

This deck features a front-loading design with the cassette compartment located on the left side. The oil-damped tilting cassette door adds a touch of refinement to the user experience. Mechanical transport controls ensure reliable operation and long-term durability.

The KD-D2 was designed to match perfectly with other JVC components, particularly the A-10X amplifier and T-10XL tuner, making it an excellent choice for building a cohesive vintage audio system.

Specifications:
