Braun Atelier C1 Slim Cassette Deck — Motorized Drawer, Japan
70 mm tall, almost exactly the height of a cassette case, and that is not a coincidence. The tape does not stand upright behind a door the way it does in every Japanese deck of the era — it lies flat and is drawn in horizontally on a motorised tray, the mechanism disappearing into a slot barely thicker than the cassette itself. The C1 arrived in 1980, two years before a CD player made that gesture familiar. Built for Braun in Japan, the matching deck to the Atelier A1 and T1. Good condition.
Harman Kardon Ultrawideband Linear Phase Cassette Deck TD292
A 1985 two-head deck with a Sendust combination record and playback head, Dolby B and C, and a full-logic belt-driven single-capstan transport. Bias fine adjustment for dialling in a particular tape, digital peak meters (see the known issue in the description below), and normal, chrome and metal all supported. 20Hz to 21kHz, wow and flutter 0.05% WRMS. Made in Japan.
Pioneer CT-F500 Silver Face Cassette Deck – Serviced, Japan
Two-head transport with a DC servo motor and an 80 mm flywheel, wow and flutter of 0.05%, and Dolby B noise reduction. Type I, Type II and FeCr settings, backlit VU meters, microphone inputs with their own level controls, and a tape monitor loop for an outboard EQ. Built in Japan between 1978 and 1980. Level 1 serviced here; condition very good.
Sony TC-FX6C Cassette Deck | Dolby B&C | Made in Japan
Dolby C as well as B — a sliding-band design with an anti-saturation circuit, good for up to 20 dB of noise reduction. Two motors, a BSL Green Motor on the capstan, feather-touch transport, a four-digit counter that keeps time through fast-forward, and AMS search across nine tracks. All four tape types, ferric through metal. Made in Japan; Level One serviced here.
