Bluesound Node N130 Hi-Res Streamer – What Hi-Fi? Award Winner

A Bluesound Node N130, the third-generation Node that What Hi-Fi? named its 2022 Product of the Year among music streamers under £750. It streams nearly every service in hi-res, brings your TV’s sound into your hi-fi over HDMI eARC, and comes complete in its original box.

What it is

The Node is the small box that turns the hi-fi you already own into a streaming system. Connect it to any amplifier or receiver, open the BluOS Controller app on your phone, tablet or computer, and you have Spotify, TIDAL, Qobuz, Deezer, Amazon Music and thousands of internet radio stations to choose from, along with your own music library from a computer on your network or a USB drive.

This is the third-generation Node, model N130, from 2021. Bluesound is the streaming brand of Lenbrook, the Pickering, Ontario company behind NAD and PSB, and for this generation it added a faster quad-core processor and a new 32-bit/384 kHz DAC with a differential output design. What Hi-Fi? gave it Product of the Year in its 2022 Awards, Best music streamer under £750, with the verdict that “Bluesound reasserts its authority in the budget music streamer market.”

It is also a tidy way to bring your TV into your stereo. The HDMI eARC input takes the sound from a modern television, so films and shows play through your main speakers instead of the TV’s own.

The connections suit almost any system. Analog RCA outputs, fixed or variable level, feed an amplifier or receiver. Our own Gold Series RCA Stereo Interconnect is a shielded, gold-plated pair made for the job. Coaxial, optical and USB outputs feed an external DAC if you have one, and there is a subwoofer output and a headphone jack on the front. Two-way aptX HD Bluetooth plays from your phone or sends music to wireless headphones, and the Node works with Apple AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect and Roon, and with Bluesound’s wireless speakers for music in other rooms.

On top, a touch panel lights up as your hand approaches, with play, volume, track skip and five presets for your favourite stations and playlists.

Condition

Excellent, and complete in its original box with the quick setup guide and the cables it came with. It has been tested on our bench, and the power cord is included.

An award-winning streamer that brings every service, and your TV, into the system you already own.
