NAD 513 3-Disc CD Changer – Original Remote, Serviced

A 1995 NAD 513 three-disc CD changer with its original remote, designed in Britain, with a 1-bit MASH converter and the happy knack of playing your burned CD-Rs. It has been serviced on our bench and is in very good condition.

What it is

The 513 is a lovely piece of mid-nineties NAD design. From the front it looks like a slim, minimalist single-disc player, with a short row of keys beside the display. Press open and the whole lower front slides out as a drawer carrying a three-disc carousel. Close it again and the changer disappears back into that clean grey case.

It is a proper changer, too. You can swap two discs while the third keeps playing, play tracks at random across all three discs, and program up to 32 tracks in any order. Preview plays the opening seconds of each track so you can find the one you want, and Edit lays out a disc’s tracks to fit a cassette side, for anyone still making mix tapes.

Inside is a 1-bit MASH converter with a linear-phase digital filter, and it measures the way NAD players always have: quiet, clean and honest, with a 105 dB signal-to-noise ratio and 0.003% distortion. It connects to any amplifier or receiver through a pair of RCA cables. Our own Gold Series RCA Stereo Interconnect is a shielded, gold-plated pair made for the job. On the rear, NAD Link connections let it work with a compatible NAD amplifier.

Condition

Very good, and free of significant marks. The charcoal grey case and faceplate present well, and NAD’s original remote is included.

A three-disc changer disguised as a minimalist NAD, with its original remote and serviced to play the discs you burned yourself.
