Flagship Paradigm Studio 100 v2 Rosenut Real Wood Veneer Floor Standers – Made in Canada
Paradigm’s Reference Series flagship floorstanding loudspeaker, the Studio 100 v2 is a landmark Made-in-Canada design that earned a place in Stereophile’s Recommended Components list and remains one of the most celebrated high-value tower speakers ever built — now offered in the premium real wood Rosenut veneer finish that was a coveted upgrade option when new.
Stereophile’s reviewer declared the Studio 100 v2 “a serious high-end contender, and a formidable one for just about any speaker in its price range and even well above,” specifically praising its bass extension — noting it approached the performance of speakers costing nearly $8,000/pair — alongside its wide, deep soundstage, exceptional dynamic composure at high listening levels, and exceedingly neutral tonal balance. With 202 user reviews on AudioReview averaging 4.2 out of 5, the Studio 100 v2 has earned its legendary status not just from critics but from decades of real-world ownership experience.
The Studio 100 v2’s four-driver, three-way architecture assigns each driver a carefully optimised bandwidth. Two 8.5-inch filled polypropylene cone woofers work in tandem to move serious air, extending bass to a measured 25 Hz (DIN) — deep enough to pressurize a room with concert hall authority without a subwoofer. A 6.5-inch mica-polymer dome midrange handles the critical vocal and instrumental band with exceptional clarity and body, while the 1-inch aluminum dome tweeter delivers extended, airy high frequencies out to 22 kHz. The crossover network transitions the drivers at 250 Hz and 2 kHz — slopes carefully chosen to keep each driver operating well within its optimal range and to maintain phase coherence through the crossover regions.
The real wood Rosenut veneer finish is the most visually striking of the three available options — a deep, rich burgundy-toned oak veneer with a warmth and depth that laminate simply cannot replicate. Beyond aesthetics, the real wood veneer panels physically add mass and thickness to the cabinet side walls, contributing to an already exceptionally non-resonant enclosure. This was a $300–$500 USD upgrade when new and remains highly desirable. These are the heaviest Studio Series speakers Paradigm ever built at 110 lbs each — a testament to the sheer cabinet mass and internal bracing that underpins the Studio 100 v2’s remarkable dynamic composure and bass authority.
This pair presents in very good condition throughout — drivers, grilles, and cabinets all in excellent shape. Included are the original heavy gold-plated leveling feet and the factory speaker binding posts.
Radique’s Take: (From Mark)
The Paradigm Studio 100 v2 and its sibling the Studio 80 v2, in this exact Rosenut real wood veneer finish, were my dream speakers when I first fell in love with high-end audio. There was simply nothing else at the price that looked or sounded like them. Years later, having heard a great deal of what the world has to offer, they still hold a special place in my heart. If you’ve been waiting for the right pair to come along — this is it.

Tannoy Profile 633 (D30) Towers — Black Ash, UK-Built, Bi-Wire
Mirage 550 Towers — Made in Canada, Sealed 10-Inch, Walnut
Definitive Technology BP-10 4-Driver Bipolar Towers — USA-Built
Each tower is two complete two-way systems, one facing forward and one facing directly backward, both radiating in phase. That is the whole point: where a dipole panel's front and rear bass partially cancel and the speaker has to come several feet into the room, these reinforce each other and the tower is happiest eight to twelve inches off the wall. Four drivers a side, bass to 20 Hz, built in Baltimore. Graded Good, and the grade is the high-gloss end caps — three decades of black lacquer carries scuffs and a few small chips.
Tannoy Mercury F3 Slim Floorstanding Speakers — Apple Finish
A two-way floorstander built on a deliberately simple recipe: one 6.5 inch bass and midrange driver covering everything below a 1 inch textile dome, crossed at 2.7 kHz by a fourth-order Linkwitz-Riley — no midrange handover in the region the ear is most sensitive to, and drivers that sum flat and stay in phase through the crossing. 89 dB into a nominal 8 ohms, happy on anything from 10 to 100 watts, and eight inches wide. The light Apple finish hardly ever comes up. Very Good condition.
Totem Acoustic Sttaf Floorstanders — Maple, Made in Canada
Totem's slim, hand-built Montreal floorstander in the maple veneer the factory charged extra for — a single 5.5-inch driver and a textile dome in a narrow mono-shell cabinet that images far wider than its size and reaches 39 Hz. Happiest at civilised levels in a small to medium room. Fitted here with Radique Audio bi-wire bridges. Pair, ships from Kanata, ON.
Totem Claw Speaker Isolation Feet — Set of 6, Machined Aluminum
Totem's own decoupling feet — the same machined aluminium Claws the factory fits to the Forest and the Wind — as a complete set of six, enough for one pair of speakers at three per cabinet. They fix with the included self-tapping screws, so no threaded insert is needed, and work on hardwood, tile or concrete where spikes do not. Ball bearings included.
