Mirage OMNI 350 Omnipolar Towers – Designed in Canada, Black Ash

A pair of slim Mirage towers built around the company’s Omnipolar design, in very good condition, that fill a room with sound instead of aiming it at one chair.

What they are

Mirage made its name in Toronto with speakers that radiate sound in every direction rather than straight ahead, and the OMNI 350 brings that idea to a slim floorstanding tower. At the top of each cabinet, under a domed grille, a 1″ aluminum-dome tweeter sits in Mirage’s Omnipolar waveguide, which spreads the treble and upper midrange around the room. The result is a wide, open soundstage that holds together wherever you sit, which makes them as good on a sofa as in the sweet spot.

Below it, two 5.5″ woofers share the work in a 2.5-way arrangement: both cover the bass, and one hands off at 700 Hz while the other carries on up to 2.2 kHz. Twin rear ports extend the bass to a rated 40 Hz, and at 89 dB and 8 ohms they are an easy load for a vintage receiver or a modern integrated alike. Floor spikes are fitted for stability.

Condition

Very Good. The black ash cabinets, drivers and grilles present cleanly, as the photographs show. The domed top grilles are each missing a couple of their mounting pins; they still sit in place nicely.
