The Mini Monitor v2 is one of the most celebrated bookshelf speakers ever produced at Paradigm’s Mississauga, Ontario facility. Designed and built entirely in Canada, it features a 25mm (1-inch) PTD pure-titanium dome tweeter, ferrofluid-damped and cooled for smooth, extended high-frequency performance, paired with a 165mm (6.5-inch) ICP injection-moulded co-polymer polypropylene woofer on a rigid diecast chassis. The large rear-firing resistive port produces impressive bass extension for a speaker of this footprint — reaching down to 43 Hz (DIN) — and the third-order electro-acoustic crossover at 2.0 kHz ensures a smooth, seamless transition between drivers. Reviewers consistently described the Mini Monitor’s midrange as approaching speakers costing several times the price, with tight, extended bass and airy, grain-free highs.

This pair is finished in the less common and very attractive Light Cherry vinyl — a warmer, more distinctive look than the standard Black Ash, and harder to find on the used market. Cabinets are in very good condition. Please note: this pair does not include grilles. One woofer surround has two very small prior repairs (approximately 2mm in diameter each), and one dust cap has some light dimpling — neither issue affects sound quality in any way, and both speakers perform and present very well.

The final 6.5-inch version of the speaker that made PSB's name — the 1998 Alpha A/V, with the upgraded tweeter, crossover and banana-plug terminals, and magnetic shielding so it can sit right beside a screen. Ninety decibels sensitive, so a modest receiver drives them well. Black ash, graded Very Good, bench-tested here. Pair.

The reason to want these is the tweeter — MartinLogan's Folded Motion driver is a pleated ribbon rather than a dome, so it squeezes air out from between its pleats and barely has to move. A 5.25-inch aluminium cone below it, 92 dB sensitivity, and the high-gloss black clean of the swirls these show so readily. Original boxes included.

Two things to tell you: a ding on the top side edge of one cabinet, and third-party binding posts a previous owner fitted to one speaker. Otherwise good — and the design is the interesting part, since Mission's inverted geometry puts the tweeter below the woofer to bring the two into step at seated ear height. Made in England.
