The Atom Monitor v5 was a complete redesign from the ground up when it launched, sharing no drivers or cabinet dimensions with its predecessor. The new 25mm (1-inch) pure titanium dome tweeter sits in a sculpted waveguide that horn-loads the driver for improved efficiency and smoother high-frequency dispersion, while the 114mm (4.5-inch) injection-moulded co-polymer polypropylene woofer delivers impressively clean and natural midrange and upper bass. The magnetically shielded cabinet is a compact bass reflex design with a rear-firing port, and the speaker is video-shielded for use near a television. Reviewers consistently praised the v5 for its uncannily smooth midrange, composed and non-fatiguing highs, and the ability to sound considerably larger and more refined than its modest dimensions and price suggest.
