SLS QG-500AVR 5.1 AV Receiver – Q-Line Gold, 100 WPC

An SLS QG-500AVR 5.1-channel AV receiver, the receiver from SLS’s Q-Line Gold home theater system. It has been tested on our bench and is in very good condition, and every function is available from its front-panel controls.

What it is

SLS made its name with planar ribbon speakers for recording studios, cinemas and concert sound. In the mid-2000s it brought that work home with the Q-Line, a home theater range co-developed with Quincy Jones, the “Q” in its name, and in 2006 the Q-Line Gold system went into Best Buy stores across the United States. The QG-500AVR is that system’s receiver: a 5.1-channel AV receiver rated at 100 watts per channel, with Dolby Digital, DTS and Dolby Pro Logic II decoding for movies and music, and an AM/FM tuner with 30 station presets.

It drives any five speakers and a powered subwoofer, not only SLS’s own, which makes it a capable heart for a first home theater, a rec room or a cottage system. Input selection, surround modes, speaker setup, tone and the tuner are all run from the front panel, and there is a headphone jack for late-night listening.

Add our RA-Twin II Bluetooth adapter to one of its analog inputs and it plays from your phone, tablet or laptop as easily as from a disc player.

The testing it has had

Tested on our bench before listing: every input and output, all five channels and the subwoofer output, and the AM/FM tuner, operated from the front panel.
