The Yamaha TX-530 is a compact, well-engineered AM/FM stereo tuner from 1989-1990, manufactured in Japan by Yamaha’s Hamamatsu facility. Designed as part of Yamaha’s “Natural Sound” lineup, this digital tuner offers solid performance, an attractive aluminum faceplate, and clean integration into any vintage or contemporary audio system.
The TX-530 combines a digital frequency display with a clear 24-segment signal-strength meter, making station hunting and tuning precise and visually intuitive. Its 400mV line-level output integrates easily with virtually any amplifier or receiver, and the tuner’s respectable sensitivity and selectivity ensure reliable FM stereo and AM reception on most standard antennas. AKAI AT-A1 AM/FM Stereo Tuner – Ultra Slim Profile
An analog tuner from 1980 in a chassis 50mm tall — two inches, which is about as thin as a full-width component gets. Needle-pointer dial with a printed scale, an AM/FM selector, a single RCA output, and nothing else. Tuning engages smoothly across both bands and the output is clean. Condition good, with a clean front bezel and honest age on a 45-year-old component.
AKAI AT-K11 AM/FM Stereo Tuner – Professional Build Grade
A 1981 analog tuner with a mechanical servo that locks onto a station and holds it, so there is no digital drift to think about. 65dB signal to noise on FM, 775mV out on FM and 250mV on AM, into a single RCA pair. Nearly ten pounds of chassis, heavier than this end of the range usually got. Tested across both bands; good cosmetic condition.
Sony ST-2950 SD AM/FM Stereo Tuner – Walnut Side Panels
Two microvolts IHF sensitivity and 73 dB signal-to-noise, with FM distortion at 0.5% mono and 0.7% stereo — enough front end to hold a weak station cleanly. Silver faceplate, illuminated dial, and the original faux walnut side panels. Made in Japan between 1976 and 1979. Tested and verified working; good cosmetic condition.
Akai AT-V04 FM/AM Tuner | Digital Synthesizer | Made in Japan
A digital synthesiser tuner with a traditional analog knob, stepping in 0.05 MHz on FM and 1 kHz on AM — fine enough that it works as an AM DX receiver and not only an FM tuner. Seven presets for each band, separate local/distance switches for FM and AM, 300 and 75 ohm antenna inputs, and a rear output level trim. Built in Japan, 1980 to 1981; tested here.
Marantz Model 104 AM/FM Tuner — Made in Japan, Excellent
We sold this tuner ourselves and it came back through our Perpetual Trade-Back Program — so we know what it was when it left, and it has been through our bench again since. A 1976 Model 104 in excellent cosmetic condition: silver face, blue dial lighting, made in Japan.
