Marantz ST7001 — A Full-Width Separate Tuner with a Hundred Presets and Two Independent Outputs
A full-width Marantz tuner with an aluminum faceplate, built for the listener who still wants radio done properly and wired into a real system rather than streamed through a phone.
The Tuner Section
Marantz built the ST7001 around a digitally-synthesised front end tuned for two things at once: sensitivity, so it pulls in the weak stations, and selectivity, so a strong local signal does not smear across the ones sitting next to it on the dial. Those two qualities usually trade against each other, and getting both is what separates a proper tuner from the radio section bolted into a receiver. It works as well on a rural aerial reaching for a distant transmitter as it does in a city where the band is crowded.
A Hundred Presets
The convenience side is unusually deep. One hundred AM and FM presets are arranged as ten groups of ten, and each one can be given a name rather than a frequency, so the display reads the station instead of a number. A weekly timer will wake the tuner on a chosen station, a sleep timer will let it play you out at night, and a switched AC outlet on the back can bring an amplifier up with it.
The Back Panel
For anyone running a considered system, the back panel is the interesting part. Two independent analogue output pairs let the tuner feed a main system and a second zone at the same time. A D-Bus connector links it to a Marantz amplifier so the two operate as one system, and there is a direct infrared flasher input for driving it from another room through an extender. An RS-232C port handles integration with a custom-installed control system, which is a fitting you almost never see at this size.
Condition
Tested here and working properly. Cosmetically this example is graded Very Good — it presents well, with only the standard signs of use. It is supplied without its original remote. Everything described above — the presets, the station naming, and both timers — is set and operated from the front panel.

Akai AT-V04 FM/AM Tuner | Digital Synthesizer | Made in Japan
A digital synthesiser tuner with a traditional analog knob, stepping in 0.05 MHz on FM and 1 kHz on AM — fine enough that it works as an AM DX receiver and not only an FM tuner. Seven presets for each band, separate local/distance switches for FM and AM, 300 and 75 ohm antenna inputs, and a rear output level trim. Built in Japan, 1980 to 1981; tested here.

An analogue tuner given a quartz-referenced five-digit readout — the precision of a synthesised design with a real analogue front end behind it, which tends to hold a weak signal more gracefully. The nine presets are not memories: each station button carries its own tuning adjustment, set by hand with a small screwdriver through the panel, so it is effectively nine little tuners in one chassis. Made in Japan, 445 mm wide and 70 mm tall to match the Atelier deck. Good condition.
