A Japanese-built Yamaha dual cassette deck from the early nineties, tested on our bench and in good condition, priced to reflect one door quirk we describe below.
What it is
Yamaha’s Natural Sound KX-W232 puts two transports in one chassis. Deck A records and plays, and Deck B plays, so you can copy from one well to the other, at normal or high speed, to make fresh copies of your favourite mixtapes and preserve the ones that matter. One set of transport buttons runs both wells, switched with the A/B deck selector, alongside a Mute/Search button.
Dolby B and C noise reduction keep tape hiss down on older and newer recordings alike, and it handles normal, chrome and metal tape. Record level and balance controls sit on the front panel with peak level meters for each channel, a tape counter with reset and a headphone jack. On the back, RCA line inputs and outputs connect it to any amplifier or receiver.
Known quirk, and why it’s priced where it is
The Deck A door, on the left, needs a firm press at its upper left corner to close fully. Closed that way, it works consistently every time. We found it on the bench and would rather you knew before you bought than after.
How we tested it
It has been tested on our bench and works as it should, apart from the door quirk above.
Condition
Good. The black faceplate presents well. The rear panel has a crack running down from its top center screw, which the photographs show.
Two decks, Dolby B and C, and Japanese build at an easy price, ready for your tapes.

A hundred and twenty minutes of Maxell UR, normal bias Type I, still in its factory wrap. Sixty minutes a side is a full album with room left over. Braun Atelier C1 Slim Cassette Deck — Motorized Drawer, Japan
70 mm tall, almost exactly the height of a cassette case, and that is not a coincidence. The tape does not stand upright behind a door the way it does in every Japanese deck of the era — it lies flat and is drawn in horizontally on a motorised tray, the mechanism disappearing into a slot barely thicker than the cassette itself. The C1 arrived in 1980, two years before a CD player made that gesture familiar. Built for Braun in Japan, the matching deck to the Atelier A1 and T1. Good condition.
