The mX2 sits in the second generation of Tannoy’s enormously popular Mercury range, upgrading the original Mercury series with ceramic-coated drivers for improved rigidity, lower distortion, and extended high-frequency detail. The 145mm ceramic-coated bass driver delivers a warm, full-bodied midrange with bass extension down to an impressive 48 Hz — remarkably deep for a compact bookshelf speaker. The 25mm soft dome tweeter provides smooth, refined high frequencies out to 20 kHz without harshness or fatigue, even during extended listening sessions.

The rear-ported bass reflex cabinet includes foam bungs for the ports, allowing bass response to be tuned to suit the listening space — plug the ports for tighter, more controlled bass when placed close to a rear wall, or leave them open for maximum extension and fullness in free-standing placement. This practical touch makes the mX2 genuinely adaptable to a wide range of room situations.

The cabinet is solidly constructed from MDF with clean Dark Oak vinyl finish, and magnetic shielding allows placement near displays. Dual gold-plated 5-way binding posts accept banana plugs, spades, pins, or bare wire, and allow bi-wiring for those who wish to optimize performance further.
