Bryston 2B Vintage Power Amplifier – 50 WPC, Made in Canada

A Canadian-built Bryston 2B stereo power amplifier, in good condition, with 19-inch rack-mount ears, an upgraded power cord and a stereo or bridged-mono switch on the back.

What it is

Bryston built its reputation on amplifiers like this one: conservative engineering, neutral and transparent sound, and decades of reliable service in studios and homes alike. The 2B delivers 50 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 100 watts per channel into 4 ohms. Flip the switch on the back to mono and it bridges into a single 200-watt channel into 8 ohms, so a second 2B later makes a pair of mono blocks.

Inside, each channel has its own power supply section, which keeps the channels separate and crosstalk low, and the voltage gain stages run from regulated supplies. Distortion is rated below 0.01% from 20 Hz to 20 kHz at full output, the frequency response runs from below 1 Hz to beyond 100 kHz, and a damping factor above 500 keeps a firm grip on woofers. On the front, a green LED shows power and a red LED for each channel lights at clipping.

Its 19-inch front panel has rack-mount ears, and at two rack units high it fits a standard studio or equipment rack as easily as a shelf. This one carries Bryston’s original Rexdale, Ontario address on its rear label, and it has been fitted with an upgraded power cord. Its red and black 5-way speaker binding posts take bare wire, spades, pins or banana plugs; we recommend our own Radique Audio gold-plated banana plugs, and our Custom Speaker Cable Builder will make a pair to length, ready to plug in.
