Made in Canada, the PSB Stratus C5 is a premium center channel speaker from PSB’s highly regarded Stratus series — a flagship consumer line designed by Paul Barton, one of Canada’s most respected speaker engineers, working in close collaboration with Canada’s National Research Council.

The C5 is built around a dual-tweeter, dual-woofer MTM (Midrange-Tweeter-Midrange) array — a configuration that PSB specifically chose to minimize the vertical lobing that causes dialogue and effects to smear or shift as listeners move off-axis in a real room. The two 14mm poly-flare dome tweeters with ferrofluid cooling are horizontally stacked to maintain a tight, coherent radiation pattern, while the pair of 5.25″ polypropylene cone woofers with rubber surrounds deliver clean, extended midrange and upper bass that integrates naturally with PSB’s Stratus floorstanding models. The result is a center channel that anchors vocals and dialogue with impressive solidity and presence without drawing attention to itself — exactly what a great center should do.

The cabinet is solidly built in PSB’s characteristic fashion: a black ash vinyl finish over a dense, well-braced enclosure with rounded upper and lower panels that reduce diffraction and give the C5 a finished, furniture-friendly appearance. Gold-plated 5-way binding posts accept banana plugs, spades, or bare wire. At 90 dB sensitivity and an 8-ohm nominal impedance, the C5 is an easy and forgiving load for any AV receiver.
