The RS-T16 features dual parallel tape paths with independent transport controls for each deck. Both support standard tape types—Type I (normal), Type II (CrO2), and Type IV (Metal) tape—with automatic EQ/bias selection. Dolby B and Dolby C noise reduction circuits help control tape hiss on both playback and recording. Electronic speed control maintains stable tape speed, and dual VU meters provide visual feedback for setting optimal recording levels. Front-loading design with illuminated transport controls keeps operation straightforward.
