Gorgeous Technics SL-1900 Fully-Automatic Direct-Drive Turntable

Radique’s Take: We’re huge fans of this table, something about the ultra slow and precise automatic system, that ever so gently rests the stylus on the record, really appeals to us. And ok, we’re suckers for the clearly illuminated strobe, S-Shape Tone-arm and chrome trim as well. Every little detail on this table seemed to have been so well thought out and implemented perfectly, and this particular SL-1900 is in very good condition. Really, really sweet. Would make a perfect gift for that someone special, or a lovely self-indulgent treat.

It has also been upgraded with our own heavily shielded Radique Audio Gold Series Interconnects, and a high-end Nagaoka MP-110 stylus / cartridge.

The Technics SL-1900 is a 2-speed, direct-drive turntable with fully automatic single disc playback.

A one-chip IC, incorporating 321 elements, controls motor speed for superb accuracy with servo control.

The tonearm mechanism gives convenient automatic set-down, lift-off and stop.

Memo-repeat control permits up to six repeated plays of the record, or continuous play.

The heavy monolithic base and isolator system protects against external vibrations.

The 1900 is quite a bit higher up than the original SL-2000 : specs-wise, tonearm-wise and everything-wise.

The motor is upped to Back-Electromotive-Force FG control instead of a simple FG Servo.

The tonearm sees an excellent spec at 7mg friction for both planes (the EPA-100 was spec’ed at 5mg), thanks to its gimbal suspension and better bearings.

Shared with bigger (and lower) models is the zinc diecast tonearm base, the IFB base (Insulated Fiber Board) made of plastic, fiberglass and “other materials”, a low-speed brushless DC motor and spring-suspended feet.

Added were automatic modes with disc-size selection and 6x “Memo Repeat” repeat modes ; maintained were the individual ± 10% pitch controls.
