Made in Japan, the Harman Kardon HK460i is a 1981-era Ultrawideband Linear Phase stereo receiver delivering 30 watts per channel of high-current power into 8 ohms. Harman Kardon’s ultrawideband design philosophy extended frequency response well beyond the audible range, resulting in lower phase shift and cleaner transient response within the listening band — a hallmark of HK engineering that earned the brand a devoted following among music lovers.

The amplifier section uses a discrete, direct-coupled topology with no output capacitors in the signal path, preserving dynamics and delivering tight, controlled bass. Despite a modest 30 watt rating, the high-current design drives real-world speakers with authority that belies its specifications. The tuner section features quartz-locked digital synthesis with six AM and six FM presets, and the linear phase IF filters maintain excellent stereo separation and low distortion across the FM band.
