Description

Kenwood VR-506 5.1 AVR 500W with Phono Input

The Kenwood VR-506 is a 5.1-channel AV receiver delivering 100 watts per channel into 8 ohms with Dolby Digital, DTS, and Pro Logic decoding plus a built-in moving-magnet phono stage for turntable use.

The VR-506 shares the same 100 W x 5 power rating, 24-bit DSP, and 24-bit A/D and D/A conversion found in the VR-507, giving it strong home theatre performance with clean, dynamic sound for movies and TV. It handles Dolby Digital and DTS for discrete 5.1 soundtracks, while standard Dolby Pro Logic provides surround from older analog and stereo sources. Compared with the VR-507, the VR-506 omits Dolby Pro Logic II and Circle Surround processing and has slightly fewer inputs, which makes it a simpler, more budget-focused option for straightforward 5.1 setups.

Connectivity includes three digital inputs (one optical, two coaxial), multiple analog audio inputs including a dedicated MM phono input, and several A/V inputs with composite and S-video for DVD players, cable boxes, and game consoles. A 5.1-channel analog input supports external multichannel sources, and a preamp-level subwoofer output allows easy integration with powered subs. This unit is in good cosmetic condition with typical light wear from normal use but no significant damage, and it includes the original Kenwood RC-R0615 remote control, giving full access to setup and surround-mode selection straight from the listening position.
