NAD 502 CD Player – Coaxial Digital Out, Plays CD-Rs

A great sounding NAD single-disc CD player from the early nineties, extensively serviced on our bench, with a coaxial digital output and the happy knack of playing your burned CD-Rs.

What it is

The 502 is classic NAD: designed and engineered by NAD Electronics in London, built to NAD’s specifications in Taiwan, and focused on sound rather than features. Inside is a Panasonic MN6474AM MASH 18-bit converter with 4x oversampling, fed by the well-regarded Sony KSS-210A laser mechanism. It is quiet, clean and detailed, with a signal-to-noise ratio above 110 dB and distortion of just 0.0025%.

Two things make it especially useful today. The coaxial digital output lets you run the 502 as a transport into a modern DAC or a receiver’s digital input, and it reads CD-Rs, so your burned discs and home compilations play as happily as your pressed CDs. On the rear, NAD Link connections let it work with a compatible NAD amplifier.
