What it is
The E150P is the powered subwoofer JBL built for the Northridge E Series, and it performs like a piece of professional equipment because much of the thinking behind it came from JBL’s Professional division. A 10-inch PolyPlas woofer is driven by an efficient digital amplifier rated at 150 watts, with 250 watts of peak dynamic power behind it.
Reach goes down to 27 Hz. Special effects in a film arrive loud and clear rather than as a general rumble, helped by the FreeFlow flared port, which is shaped to let air move without the chuffing that a plain cut tube produces when the bass gets demanding. The computer-designed, miter-joint cabinet is built to stay quiet while the driver works.
What you can adjust
More than most subwoofers of its era allow. There is a continuously variable low-pass control running from 50 Hz to 150 Hz, so the handover to your main speakers can be set to suit them rather than to suit a chart. There is a level control, and there is a phase switch — which matters more than people expect, because a subwoofer fighting the main speakers at the crossover point will sound thin no matter how large the driver is.
Connection is flexible: line level and speaker level inputs, the latter on sturdy gold-plated five-way binding posts, so it will work with a modern receiver carrying a subwoofer output or with an older amplifier that has none.
The finish
JBL offered the Northridge E Series in Black Ash, Beech and Cherry. Nearly every E150P that surfaces is Black Ash. This one is the Cherry, a warm red-brown that sits in a living room as furniture rather than as a black box in the corner, and it is a close match for Paradigm’s Light Cherry if you are building around speakers in that finish.
Condition
Very good. The cabinet presents well and the subwoofer is working properly.
Solidly built, genuinely adjustable, and in Cherry rather than the usual black.

Infinity Modulus MSW-II 12″ Powered Subwoofer – 600W Peak
MartinLogan Dynamo 500 10″ Subwoofer 360W Peak – Black
A 10-inch high-excursion polypropylene woofer and dual rear low-turbulence ports, driven by a 120-watt switch-mode amplifier that peaks at 360 — down to 29 Hz through the LFE input. The low-pass sweeps 50 to 200 Hz with a bypass, and phase and level sit on the back panel. Line-level and LFE inputs only, no speaker-level connection. Very good condition.
Klipsch RPW-10 10 Powered Subwoofer — 420W Peak, BASH Amp
Tannoy PS 110 Subwoofer — Made in Canada, 10-Inch, 110W MOSFET
A ten-inch long-throw driver in a front-ported cabinet with a 110-watt MOSFET amplifier on the rear plate. The connection panel is the reason to hunt one down: speaker level in, and a second pair of posts marked High Pass Out, so an amplifier with no subwoofer output can run it and get its mains high-passed in return. Crossover 40 to 150 Hz, LF tilt, phase switch. Built in Canada; condition good.
Mirage Nano S8 8″ Subwoofer 200W Peak – Downward Firing
A down-firing 8-inch driver with Mirage's Ribbed Elliptical Surround, 200 watts dynamic peak, and a front-ported cabinet running 33 to 120Hz. The rear panel carries a continuously variable low-pass filter, 40 to 150Hz at 18dB per octave, which the fixed-crossover Nano never had — it will cross to almost any satellite. Level 1 serviced here; very good cosmetic condition in dark grey.

JBL Northridge E30 2-Way 6″ Bookshelf Speakers – Bi-Wireable
Sixteen and a half pounds each, which is where the 50 Hz comes from — this is a full-size bookshelf, not a satellite in a bigger box. The 6-inch PolyPlas woofer is viscous polymer over a corrugated cellulose base, crossed at 4 kHz to a three-quarter-inch titanium-laminate dome through JBL's Straight-Line Signal Path network. Two sets of gold-plated 5-way posts, so bi-wireable. Very good condition.

JVC SX-PW33 Slim Tower Subwoofer — 6.5in, 100W, High-Pass Out
A tall, narrow bass column meant to stand beside a cabinet rather than in front of it — 8.25 inches across the front and unusually deep at 17, which is the trade: the depth buys back the internal volume the narrow baffle gives away, so a 6.5 inch woofer is properly loaded in a strip of floor barely wider than a hardcover book. Driven by an integrated 100 watt amplifier, with speaker-level inputs and high-pass outputs so it works with an amplifier that has no subwoofer output at all. Good condition.
LG SH96TA-W Passive Subwoofer, Front-Firing, Front-Ported, Black
The passive subwoofer that shipped with LG's SH96TA home-theatre system — forward-firing driver and a front port, so it can back onto a wall or sit inside a cabinet without upsetting the tuning. It is a 3-ohm load and needs a receiver with a dedicated passive-subwoofer output; it should not go on ordinary speaker terminals. No power cord, no plate amp to age out. Good cosmetic condition.

Polk Audio PSW350 10″ Front-Firing Powered Subwoofer 260W
A 10-inch front-firing Dynamic Balance woofer on a 100-watt RMS amplifier — 260 watts dynamic — in a dual-rear-ported cabinet good for 25 to 180 Hz. Speaker-level in and out, stereo line inputs and an unfiltered LFE jack, with a variable 60 to 160 Hz low-pass and a phase switch. 37 lbs, black matte. Very good cosmetic condition.
Yamaha YST-SW105 Active Servo Subwoofer — Compact 100W
An 8-inch front-firing paper cone on Yamaha's Advanced Active Servo amplifier — 100 watts into 5 ohms, down to 30 Hz, from a cabinet small enough to tuck beside a bookshelf pair. Continuously variable high-cut from 50 to 150 Hz, a Music/Movie voicing switch, RCA and speaker-level inputs plus full-range pass-through outputs. Very good condition.
Yamaha SW-3 Active Servo Subwoofer — 10″ Woofer | Air Woofer Tec
Yamaha’s Active Servo Technology couples a negative-impedance drive amplifier to a Helmholtz resonator port — the Air Woofer opening — so the amplifier corrects the driver’s motion as it works. 100 watts into a 25 cm cone, rated down to 25 Hz, with a continuously variable 50–150 Hz high-cut at 24 dB per octave. Speaker-level and line inputs both. Very good condition.
