Description

Technics RS-TR210 Dual Auto-Reverse Cassette Deck, Japan

The Technics RS-TR210 is a late-1980s Japanese-made dual auto-reverse cassette deck offering convenient continuous playback, one-touch recording, Dolby B/C noise reduction, and support for Type I, CrO2, and Metal tapes in a clean, compact black chassis.

With auto-reverse on both decks, the RS-TR210 can play an entire tape from start to finish without interruption, making it an especially practical unit for background listening, tape dubbing, or digitizing a cassette collection. This unit has undergone our Level One service and testing which should ensure many more years of reliable performance ahead, and presents in good cosmetic condition with only moderate signs of age and use. The front-loading dual-well design, digital peak-reading meters, and 3-digit tape counter keep operation intuitive and easy to follow for both casual and more involved users.

The RS-TR210 is a 2-head, 4-track, 2-channel stereo design running at standard 1-7/8 ips (4.76 cm/s) tape speed, and includes a high-speed dubbing mode for fast tape-to-tape copying from deck one to deck two. Dolby B and C noise reduction help tame tape hiss on playback and recording, and the auto tape selector detects tape type automatically, simplifying operation when switching between Normal, Chrome, and Metal formulations. RCA line inputs and outputs on the rear panel allow straightforward integration with any stereo receiver or integrated amplifier.

Soft-touch feather controls on the transport give the RS-TR210 a more refined, premium feel than the stiff mechanical buttons found on many comparable dual decks of the period, and contribute to the overall impression of a well-engineered, thoughtfully designed unit. For cassette enthusiasts, the RS-TR210 hits a practical sweet spot: capable enough for real recording and dubbing tasks, simple enough for everyday use, and solidly made in the Technics tradition of reliable, no-fuss engineering.
