B&W CC6 Center Channel Speaker — Dual Kevlar Drivers, Made in England

Overview

The B&W CC6 is a dedicated center channel speaker from Bowers & Wilkins, the legendary English loudspeaker company founded in Worthing in 1966. Designed specifically for home cinema dialogue reproduction, the CC6 brings B&W’s signature Kevlar driver technology — originally developed for their flagship tower speakers — into a compact, magnetically shielded center channel format.

Build & Design

The CC6 uses a 2½-way vented-box design with two 120mm woven Kevlar cone bass/midrange drivers flanking a single 25mm aluminum dome tweeter. B&W patented the use of Kevlar for loudspeaker cones — the same DuPont material used in bulletproof vests — because its stiffness-to-weight ratio is ideal for midrange reproduction. The front-mounted port makes placement flexible in typical entertainment centers, and magnetic shielding prevents interference with CRT TVs and sensitive electronics. Dimensions: 450 x 151 x 275 mm; weight 6.3 kg.

Sound

The 2½-way topology hands off bass/midrange duties cleanly between the two woofers and the tweeter, delivering articulate dialogue with excellent tonal accuracy and natural vocal timbre. Frequency response is 78Hz–20kHz ±3dB on the reference axis, with 89dB sensitivity and a nominal 8Ω impedance. Recommended amplifier power is 25W–120W into 8Ω, making the CC6 a comfortable match for most AV receivers and integrated amps.

Condition

This unit has been thoroughly bench-tested: both Kevlar drivers operate smoothly across their range, the aluminum dome tweeter delivers clean high-frequency extension, and all binding posts make solid electrical contact. Cosmetically very good — clean Black Ash finish, intact grille, normal signs of age appropriate for a quality home cinema component.
