Totem Acoustic Mite-T-Center Centre Channel, Light Cherry
Made in Canada.
The Totem Acoustic Mite-T-Center is a properly high-end Canadian-built centre channel — small in stature, but engineered to the same exacting standards as Totem’s renowned Mite bookshelf monitors and Sttaf slim floorstanders, and offered here in very good condition with the gorgeous factory-original Cherry veneer finish.
Totem Acoustic, founded by Vince Bruzzese in Montreal in 1987, has built its reputation on punching dramatically above weight — extracting full-range, three-dimensional sound from compact, beautifully finished cabinets. The Mite-T-Center is the dedicated horizontal centre channel built to timbre-match both the Mite bookshelf monitors and the Sttaf slim floorstanders, and shares their key engineering signatures: a hand-crafted, lock-mitred cabinet, borosilicate internal damping, real wood veneer finish, and Totem’s preference for high-quality, conservatively rated drivers in well-tuned smaller enclosures.
A note on naming: Totem’s official spelling for this model is “Mite-T-Center,” but it is widely referred to in the secondhand market and online forums as the Mite-T Center, Mite T Center, Mite-T C, Mite-T-C, Mite-T Centre, Mite TC, and Mite T-C. All of these refer to the same Totem centre channel — the model documented on Totem’s official Mite-T-Center specification sheet.
Driver complement is a true MTM (midwoofer-tweeter-midwoofer) configuration, with two long-throw 5.5-inch woofers flanking a 1-inch soft dome tweeter. Crossover and cabinet voicing are tuned for the Mite-T-Center’s specific role: clear, intelligible dialogue at all listening levels, seamless tonal blending with Mite or Sttaf mains across the front stage, and the kind of rich midrange weight that gives film soundtracks and concert recordings real presence. The bass is rated to 46 Hz (±3 dB), genuinely impressive for a centre this compact, and the speaker’s 88 dB sensitivity makes it an easy match for AV receivers and integrated amplifiers from 20 watts upward.
The Mite-T-Center is intentionally supplied without a grille — Totem’s design philosophy is that a properly engineered baffle and driver should not be acoustically compromised by a grille, and the result is a clean, modernist appearance that shows off the woven cone woofers and soft dome tweeter beautifully against the warm Cherry veneer. The cabinet is bi-wireable via 4-way binding posts on the rear, allowing experimentation with bi-wiring or bi-amping for owners who wish to. The Cherry finish on this example is in very good cosmetic condition, presenting cleanly with that warm, golden-red tone for which Cherry veneer is so prized in fine furniture and audiophile speakers alike.

The cabinet is asymmetrical on purpose: flip it over and it tilts the other way, aiming up at you from a low shelf or down at you from the top of a cabinet.
