High-performance Canadian-made center channel with dual 5.5-inch woofers and Teteron tweeter for clear, dynamic dialogue and full-range output, in good condition.
The Athena AS-C1 is a substantial center channel speaker designed and manufactured in Canada by Athena Technologies, sister brand to Energy, Mirage, and PSB under the API/Klipsch umbrella. Using dual 5.5-inch injection-molded polypropylene woofers with rubber surrounds flanking a 1-inch Teteron dome tweeter, the AS-C1 delivers exceptional clarity, strong midrange articulation, and surprisingly deep bass response for a center channel of this size. The horizontally-oriented driver layout ensures consistent off-axis response for listeners seated away from center, while the bass-reflex enclosure with tuned rear port provides extended low-frequency output that allows the AS-C1 to handle both dialogue and music with authority. Rated at 150 watts power handling, this center can keep pace with demanding soundtracks and larger front speakers without strain. This example is in good cosmetic condition and has been tested.
The AS-C1’s driver complement and cabinet volume give it a fuller, more dynamic sound than typical budget center channels, making it an excellent match for tower speakers in two-channel and home theater systems. Gold-plated 5-way binding posts accept audiophile-grade speaker cable, banana plugs, spades, or bare wire for flexible connection options. Magnetically shielded drivers prevent interference with CRT displays and reduce stray magnetic fields near other components. The compact yet substantial cabinet fits easily on media furniture or can be wall-mounted, while the neutral voicing ensures seamless integration with a wide variety of front speakers.

Yamaha NS-C90 Center Speaker – Dual-Angle Tilt, Made in Japan
The cabinet is asymmetrical on purpose: flip it over and it tilts the other way, aiming up at you from a low shelf or down at you from the top of a cabinet. Sealed rather than ported, so it needs no rear clearance. Two full-range drivers, nothing crossing in the vocal band. 6 ohms, 50 watts nominal. Built in Japan; very good condition.
