Denon AVR-S720W — 7.2 Channels, Dolby Atmos, 4K and Wi-Fi
A modern, fully featured 7.2 channel home theatre receiver with Dolby Atmos, 4K Ultra HD video and wireless streaming built in — the straightforward way to put a current surround system together without paying current prices.
Denon built the AVR-S720W to bring technology from the company’s flagship models down into a receiver most people could actually afford. Seven channels of discrete amplification deliver 75 watts per channel into 8 ohms across the full audio band, with a maximum rating of 165 watts per channel measured into 6 ohms at 1 kHz.
Dolby Atmos and DTS:X
Dolby Atmos is built in, allowing a 5.1.2 configuration with height or upward-firing speakers for genuine overhead effects rather than simulated ones. DTS:X decoding is also supported. Two independent subwoofer outputs are provided, which allows a pair of subs to be placed for smoother bass across a room instead of one strong seat and several weak ones.
Video and HDMI
The video section is where this receiver still holds its own. All six HDMI inputs — five on the rear, one on the front for a games console or a visiting device — support HDMI 2.0a with full HDCP 2.2. That means 4K Ultra HD at 60 Hz full rate, 4:4:4 colour, High Dynamic Range, BT.2020 wide colour gamut and 3D pass-through on every input, not merely on a privileged one or two. A single HDMI output with ARC feeds the television.
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Streaming
Networking and streaming are built in rather than added on. Dual-band Wi-Fi covering 2.4 and 5 GHz sits alongside Bluetooth, Apple AirPlay, DLNA, Spotify Connect and internet radio, and the receiver handles high resolution audio including DSD, FLAC, ALAC, AIFF and WAV. Audyssey MultEQ room correction, with Dynamic EQ and Dynamic Volume, measures the acoustics of the actual room and corrects for them.
The Remote
A remote control is included and has been confirmed fully functional — worth noting, because a receiver of this generation is close to unusable without one, and replacements are neither cheap nor easy to find.
Condition
Cosmetically this receiver is in very good condition and presents well.
Condition and Service
This unit has been thoroughly inspected and tested to confirm full functionality.
Measure Your Cabinet First
Two measurements worth taking before you buy. With the Wi-Fi antennas extended the height rises to 8.5 inches (215 mm), which is what actually has to clear a cabinet shelf. And allow 15 to 16 inches of depth rather than the 13.3 the chassis measures, because HDMI and speaker cables need somewhere to bend.
Why This One
A great deal of current home theatre capability for the money — Atmos, 4K on every input, and wireless streaming, all in one box and ready to build a system around. Available now.

🔌 Speaker Cable, Built on Our Own Bench
The speaker terminals here take banana plugs — the quickest and tidiest connection there is, and the one you want if anything ever gets moved. We hand-build speaker cable here in any length you need on our Custom Speaker Cable Builder, terminated with our own gold-plated banana plugs. If you already have cable you are happy with, we sell the plugs on their own. 👉
🎚️ Gold Series RCA Interconnects
Our own Gold Series RCA Stereo Interconnect is a shielded, gold-plated stereo pair, in stock and ready to go. It is the cable that connects this to the rest of your system, and it is a straightforward upgrade on the free leads that come in the box with most equipment. 👉
🔊 Two Subwoofer Outputs — Two Cables
This receiver has two independent subwoofer outputs, so a pair of subs can each be fed properly rather than sharing a split signal. Our Gold Series Subwoofer Cable is the shielded lead for that run — one per subwoofer. 👉
⚠️ Important Information for International Buyers
This unit is configured for North American 110/120V power. Buyers outside North America will require a step-down transformer and appropriate plug adapter.
