Kimber Kable 4TC is a high-current braided speaker cable: eight 19.5 AWG strands of OFE copper, four per side for roughly 13 AWG each way, insulated in Teflon (low-loss fluorocarbon) and woven in Kimber’s eight-wire counter-opposed helix, with very low series inductance (0.225 µH per metre). What makes it 4TC

Teflon insulation

Low-loss fluorocarbon around each strand: the difference between 4TC and 4PR, in a white and clear braid.

Lower inductance

0.225 µH per metre, slightly below 4PR, and Kimber’s chart shows lower impedance across the audio band than generic 14 AWG wire.

Bi-wire capable

Kimber tags 4TC for bi-wiring, and it’s a favourite step up for owners who started on 4PR.

How we pack your order

Most cable orders ship in our high-quality Radique Audio bubble packs. Very heavy, long runs, and any order that also includes speakers or other larger gear, are boxed up together in our 275 lb-test double-wall packaging, as in this video.

Questions we get about this cable

Is this sold as a pair?

No: this is bulk cable, priced per foot or per metre of the braided cable. A pair of 3 m speaker runs needs 6 m (about 20 ft). Measure the actual route, add a little slack, and order the total.

Is this the in-wall 4TC?

No. This is Kimber’s braided 4TC with Teflon insulation, the one shown here. Kimber also makes a different in-wall rated cable called “4TC Bulk”; if you need in-wall cable, ask us.

Does it come with connectors?

No. It ships unterminated and un-stripped. For a finished cable, order through our Custom Speaker Cable Builder, or add our banana plugs, spades or pins.

Is extra cable returnable?

Custom-length bulk wire is cut for you, so it’s final sale. Please measure twice before ordering.

4TC or 4PR?

4PR uses the same braid with polyethylene insulation. 4TC’s Teflon brings the inductance down a little further. Bigger systems can step up to Kimber’s 8TC or 12TC, which we can order.

Any tips for connecting it?

Always switch the amplifier off before connecting or disconnecting speaker cable, and keep polarity consistent at both ends.

What warranty does it have?

Every new Kimber cable we sell carries our 30-day warranty on new third-party products: if it fails in normal use we repair or replace it at our expense. Because we’re an authorized dealer, it’s also eligible for Kimber’s own factory warranty, which Kimber says excludes grey-market and counterfeit cable. Keep your Radique invoice as proof of purchase. Analog interconnects
