These modules provide faster signal transfer, lower noise, and better transient response, and are directly responsible for the CD60’s well-reviewed ability to extract warmth, imaging, and dynamic contrast from standard 16-bit/44.1kHz discs that many similarly priced players simply cannot match. The DAC is an ESS Sabre ES9016K2M, a reference-grade chip operating in multi-bit delta-sigma mode with a selectable digital filter — giving the listener the choice between a more forward, detailed presentation and a softer, more analogue-like character.

The CD60 is also a capable hi-res DAC for USB sources: a front-panel USB-A input accepts FLAC, WAV, AIFF, ALAC, and DSD files up to DSD 5.6MHz, making the player an excellent all-in-one source component for both physical and file-based digital libraries. Coaxial and optical digital outputs allow connection to an outboard DAC. The front-panel headphone amplifier — built around an HDAM-SA2 buffer stage and high slew-rate op-amp — features selectable low, mid, and high gain settings, making the CD60 a genuinely versatile desktop listening hub as well as a system component.
