PSB Imagine T Tower Speakers – Gorgeous Dark Cherry Real Wood Veneer, Very Good Condition, Tested and Working Perfectly
A benchmark 2.5-way floorstander that delivers genuine musicality, dynamic range and room-filling presence, finished in the dark cherry real-wood veneer that shows this cabinet at its best.
The Imagine T earned its reputation as one of the great value propositions in high-end audio, and it has aged well. The Absolute Sound named it an Editors’ Choice, praising a balance of virtues they called classic PSB. What that means in a room is a vivid, unforced midrange and genuine midbass weight, with nothing drawing attention to itself.
There is a local story here that most listings miss. PSB was founded by Paul and Sue Barton, and Paul has done his loudspeaker research for decades in the anechoic chambers of Canada’s National Research Council, right here in Ottawa. The measured neutrality these speakers are known for was developed a short drive from where they are now for sale.
The 2.5-way configuration uses two 5.25-inch woofers with PSB’s ceramic-reinforced polypropylene cones — stiff and light, which is the combination that produces clean bass without a heavy, slow midrange. Both operate in the bass, while only the upper driver continues through the midrange, crossing to the tweeter at 1.8kHz. The 1-inch titanium-dome tweeter is ferrofluid-cooled, and all drivers sit flush with the baffle for cleaner dispersion.
The cabinet deserves attention. Every vertical face is a compound curve, so there are no parallel surfaces for standing waves to form between, and it is built from up to seven layers of laminated 3mm MDF with the front baffle reinforced to a full inch and a half. That is furniture-grade construction doing acoustic work, not just looking well.
The dual-port bass-reflex design ships with a moulded port plug for the upper port, so bass can be tuned to the room — open for extension, plugged for a tighter, faster balance. Outriggers are fitted with a choice of rubber nubs for hard floors or spikes for carpet, which is what keeps a narrow 37-inch tower stable.
The dark cherry veneer is genuine wood, not vinyl. Fit and finish on the Imagine series was widely noted at launch as belonging to speakers costing several times as much. These are furniture-grade pieces as much as they are serious loudspeakers.
This pair is in very good cosmetic condition and has been thoroughly inspected and tested to confirm full functionality.
Worth noting on value: PSB’s current tower in this position, the Imagine T65, lists at $2,699 CAD (approx. US$1,915) per pair new today.
Connectivity and Features: Two sets of gold-plated five-way binding posts, accepting bare wire, spades or bananas Bi-wire and bi-amp capable Moulded port plug included for room tuning Compound-curved enclosure on every vertical face — no parallel surfaces Up to seven layers of laminated 3mm MDF, front baffle reinforced to 1.5 inches Outriggers with both rubber nubs and spikes
A genuinely accomplished loudspeaker that still competes well above its used price, and one that happens to look superb doing it.

Definitive Technology BP-10 4-Driver Bipolar Towers — USA-Built
Each tower is two complete two-way systems, one facing forward and one facing directly backward, both radiating in phase. That is the whole point: where a dipole panel's front and rear bass partially cancel and the speaker has to come several feet into the room, these reinforce each other and the tower is happiest eight to twelve inches off the wall. Four drivers a side, bass to 20 Hz, built in Baltimore. Graded Good, and the grade is the high-gloss end caps — three decades of black lacquer carries scuffs and a few small chips.
Tannoy Mercury F3 Slim Floorstanding Speakers — Apple Finish
A two-way floorstander built on a deliberately simple recipe: one 6.5 inch bass and midrange driver covering everything below a 1 inch textile dome, crossed at 2.7 kHz by a fourth-order Linkwitz-Riley — no midrange handover in the region the ear is most sensitive to, and drivers that sum flat and stay in phase through the crossing. 89 dB into a nominal 8 ohms, happy on anything from 10 to 100 watts, and eight inches wide. The light Apple finish hardly ever comes up. Very Good condition.
