Design and Drivers
This Totem Storm Sub is a high-end, compact 8-inch powered subwoofer with dual passive radiators, ideal for adding fast, musical bass to serious stereo or home theatre systems in a satin black finish with good cosmetics.
The Storm uses a front-firing 8-inch cast-frame driver and two side-mounted 8-inch passive radiators that share the same cone profile, which Totem voices for a more informative, less compressed energy flow than typical single-driver designs. Its 300-watt internal amplifier offers variable gain, phase, and crossover controls, plus a crossover bypass switch so you can either let the sub manage bass or hand that job to your AV processor. A pair of low-level RCA inputs and high/low pass audio connectivity make integration flexible in both stereo and multi-channel setups. Auto power-down brings the amp into standby when no signal is present and wakes it on signal, making everyday use simple. This unit is in good overall cosmetic condition in Totem’s Satin Black finish (a smooth, non-gloss, non-woodgrain black with a touch more sheen than typical flat satin), with a fair bit of light scratching on the top panel that is clearly visible under bright light, but far less noticeable in a typical in-room environment; sonically it performs very well and remains a genuinely capable, musical subwoofer.

Yamaha’s Active Servo Technology couples a negative-impedance drive amplifier to a Helmholtz resonator port — the Air Woofer opening — so the amplifier corrects the driver’s motion as it works. 100 watts into a 25 cm cone, rated down to 25 Hz, with a continuously variable 50–150 Hz high-cut at 24 dB per octave. Mirage LF-150 10″ Powered Subwoofer – 600W Peak, Made in Canada
A discrete MOSFET Class A/B amplifier rated 150 watts continuous and 600 watts dynamic peak, driving a 10-inch polypropylene titanium-deposit woofer on a 1.5-inch voice coil and a 28-ounce magnet. Front-ported to 23 Hz, with level, phase and crossover on the front panel instead of the back. Made in Canada, 45 lbs; very good condition.
JVC SX-PW33 Slim Tower Subwoofer — 6.5in, 100W, High-Pass Out
A tall, narrow bass column meant to stand beside a cabinet rather than in front of it — 8.25 inches across the front and unusually deep at 17, which is the trade: the depth buys back the internal volume the narrow baffle gives away, so a 6.5 inch woofer is properly loaded in a strip of floor barely wider than a hardcover book. Driven by an integrated 100 watt amplifier, with speaker-level inputs and high-pass outputs so it works with an amplifier that has no subwoofer output at all. Good condition.
LG SH96TA-W Passive Subwoofer, Front-Firing, Front-Ported, Black
The passive subwoofer that shipped with LG's SH96TA home-theatre system — forward-firing driver and a front port, so it can back onto a wall or sit inside a cabinet without upsetting the tuning. It is a 3-ohm load and needs a receiver with a dedicated passive-subwoofer output; it should not go on ordinary speaker terminals. No power cord, no plate amp to age out. Good cosmetic condition.
