A Marantz 2245 from the golden age of the receiver, serviced and ready to work.
The case, and the upgrade you can choose
This 2245 wears its original Marantz case — the vented woodgrain top and wrapped sides the receiver left the factory in — and it has held up well. That is the unit as Marantz sold it, and for most buyers it is exactly right.
If you want to take it further, the walnut WC-22 was the factory’s own upgrade cabinet, and our woodworker builds a cherry cabinet in that spirit for these receivers: Ottawa Valley cherry, resawn into veneer and book-matched so the grain runs unbroken across the sides, hand-finished with linseed oil and beeswax. It turns a classic receiver into a piece of furniture. Ask and we will quote it for you.
Made in Japan Marantz 2245 Stereophonic Receiver — classic 70s hi-fi with warm, detailed sound
The Marantz 2245 represents the golden age of hi-fi audio from the iconic Japanese manufacturer. Produced from 1971 to 1976, this mid-level receiver struck the balance between functionality, power and aesthetic appeal that made the line famous. Known for the warm, friendly tonal balance that set Marantz receivers above other solid-state units of the era, the 2245 delivers a smooth, detailed soundstage with tight bass response and engaging midrange presence.
This versatile receiver provides ample power for most speaker setups, often delivering more than its advertised wattage when pushed. The beautiful blue-lit gyro tuning dial and elegant brushed aluminum faceplate make it as visually appealing as it is sonically impressive. Perfect for powering your vinyl setup, it includes a high-quality phono stage for moving magnet cartridges, along with multiple auxiliary inputs and a tape loop.
The 2245 features pre-out/main-in connections, allowing for system expansion with external processors or additional amplification. With its combination of power, flexibility and Marantz’s legendary build quality, this receiver remains highly sought after by vintage audio enthusiasts and collectors alike.

🔌 Radique Audio Pin Connectors — Made For Exactly These Terminals
The 2245 uses Marantz’s original pressure-clip speaker terminals, and it drives two pairs, MAIN and REMOTE. Bare wire frays and works loose in a clip like that, and a rigid banana or spade levers on a forty-year-old terminal. Our own Gold Plated Pin Connectors were designed for this job — the pin flexes instead of sitting rigid, two set screws hold the wire instead of one, and the jackets are colour-coded. They take 12 to 18 AWG, in 1, 2, 4 or 10 pairs. We also hand-build speaker cable here in any length and will terminate it in pins for you — pick the gauge on our Custom Speaker Cable Builder. 👉
🪵 Dress It in Ottawa Valley Cherry — Built by Our Own Woodworker
Marantz sold the walnut WC-22 as the factory’s own upgrade cabinet for these receivers. We build the same idea in Ottawa Valley cherry — resawn into veneer and book-matched so the grain runs unbroken across the sides, hand-finished with linseed oil and beeswax. This 2245 already wears its original case and looks right as it is; the cherry is the step beyond. Ask and we will quote it with the receiver. 👉
📶 Add Bluetooth — The RA-Twin II, Built For Exactly This
The 2245 was built before Bluetooth existed, and it does not need replacing to get it. Our own RA-Twin II adapter plugs into the AUX or tape input on the back and streams from a phone, tablet or laptop — nothing modified inside, and it comes with a starter cable so it works out of the box. If you want it done properly, the Gold Series RX Bundle pairs the adapter with our shielded Gold Series 3.5 mm to Dual RCA cable for $69 — $19 less than buying the two separately. The RA-Twin II transmits as well as receives, so it will also send from this receiver out to wireless headphones. 👉
⚠️ Important Information for International Buyers
This unit is configured for North American 110/120V power. Buyers outside North America will require a step-down transformer and appropriate plug adapter.

Gold Plated Pin Connectors – Flexible Pins, Radique Audio
Made for spring clips and guillotine terminals, where bare wire frays and works loose. The pin flexes rather than sitting rigid, so it does not lever on a forty-year-old terminal, and two set screws hold the wire instead of one. Takes 12 to 18 AWG — 12 is a tight fit. Colour-coded non-conductive jackets and a textured grip. Sold in 1, 2, 4 or 10 pairs.
