A useful secondary feature sets the SU-G90 apart from most pure-stereo integrated amplifiers of the era: a built-in Dolby Pro Logic surround decoder with a dedicated 15-watts-per-channel rear amplifier section, allowing the amp to drive a compact surround setup directly should you wish. In stereo, a full complement of six analog inputs — including a moving magnet phono stage — plus multiple tape loops gives the SU-G90 exceptional source flexibility. The A/B speaker selector allows two pairs of speakers to be run.

The feature that makes the SU-G90 more than a stereo integrated is on the back panel: a true pre-out / main-in loop, fitted with its jumpers (see the rear-panel photo). Remove the jumpers and the preamp and power amp sections separate, so the SU-G90 can serve as a preamp for an external power amp, as a power amp on its own, or with an active crossover, subwoofer crossover or room-correction processor between the two stages, after the volume control. The tape loops cannot do that job: tape out is taken before the volume control, so anything inserted there runs at a fixed level.

The unit is in good cosmetic condition and has been thoroughly inspected and tested to confirm full functionality. The clean black faceplate presents well and pairs naturally with other early-1990s Japanese components.
