The amp delivers 130 watts per channel into 8 ohms with both channels driven and just 0.05% total harmonic distortion, with a robust dynamic headroom figure of 1.1 dB that translates to effortless handling of musical peaks.
A useful secondary feature sets the SU-G90 apart from most pure-stereo integrated amplifiers of the era: a built-in Dolby Pro Logic surround decoder with a dedicated 15-watts-per-channel rear amplifier section, allowing the amp to drive a compact surround setup directly should you wish. In stereo, a full complement of six analog inputs — including a moving magnet phono stage — plus multiple tape loops gives the SU-G90 exceptional source flexibility. The A/B speaker selector allows two pairs of speakers to be run, and the tape monitor loop can also be used for inserting an outboard EQ or signal processor into the playback chain.
