The FXi A6 represents the larger of Polk’s two dedicated surround speaker models, designed specifically for immersive home theater. Two 1-inch silk/polymer composite dome tweeters are angled 45 degrees apart from each other, creating an ideal blend of direct and reflected sound that envelops the listener without drawing attention to the speaker’s location. A rear-panel dipole/bipole switch allows the FXi A6 to adapt to different room placements — bipole mode for rear wall mounting delivers distinct, directional surround cues, while dipole mode for side wall placement creates a more diffuse, wraparound soundfield. This flexibility makes the A6 an excellent choice regardless of room layout.

The 6.5-inch Dynamic Balance polymer composite cone woofer with rubber surround delivers surprising low-end authority for a surround speaker, with usable bass extending down to 55 Hz. This makes the A6 noticeably fuller and more impactful than smaller surround speakers, particularly during action sequences and music playback. Polk’s Dynamic Balance driver technology uses laser testing to identify and eliminate resonance points, resulting in cleaner, more accurate reproduction across the frequency range. The acoustically inert MDF cabinet further controls unwanted vibration.

Integrated keyhole mounting slots on the rear panel allow for straightforward wall installation. Five-way binding post speaker terminals accept bare wire, pins, spades, or banana plugs. The black finish is clean and understated.
